You have to get the touch pad replaced. my worked for 11 month, got it replaced (3 weeks to get the part), worked for 1.5 month and broke again out of warranty. time to get a new dishwasher and extended warranty. maytag is total c$%p. Everything is made in Mexico. I think even China makes a better product. WOW did I say that?!?!
My touch pad start button would not turn the dishwasher on. The other buttons where lighting. After reading some posts I "peeled" back the touch screen about 3/4 off with a button knife. I started pushing the sensors from the inside they look like magnets, thats where the electronic ribbon is. I played around with the door latch and then started to remove the screws from the inside with a tool that looks like and allen-wrench. But i wasn't able to pull the top piece off, so i reinstalled the screws. Then I kept pressing the delay button and finally the maching turned on. I'm not sure how long its going to work but maybe if you 'play' around with it something might happen. It beats buying a new machine and theres no way i'm going to order parts for this piece of **** Maytag after reading about all of these problems that tend to repeat.
You are absolutely right, I forgot to update. After looking at new dishwashers and in bad mood I decided to try to fix it, I had nothing to loose. So I piled back the buttons and bend back the ribbon where it is attached to the buttons and it started to work. I did not "fix" it in place it with a tape (I will if it stops working again), but just put back together and it has been working for 4 month now.
It seems that it losses the connection where ribbon attaches to the buttons, so if you play with area and git it working, you are good..
