We have two of these machines - on one the remote works, on the other machine, the same remote does not work. So it is NOT the remote. One of my machines does not respond to the REMOTE. Any ideas?? We are past our 90 day return window. thanks!

Do you want a way to hold the batteries in or find a place to get a new one? ( maybe a universal generic)

I have a Panasonic surround sound DVD player and the remote has stopped working, I've replaced batteries and tried resetting unit.

Did you fully shut down the player including unplugging. Did you contact mfr customer service or warranty claims for instructions on resetting the remote code in the unit?

The remote does not work at all. New batteries inserted but will not work.

Check the battery + - compartment for moisture or rust connections and used some WD40 chemical spray in a rag and clean it + - battery connections.Wait like 10 mins put battery back in the remote should work again. If not, still have the same problems. The tv remote comtrol CPU chip it is shorted and dead.Or try website Remotes.com to buy a replacement new original remote.

My remote wont work...the batteries when dead...changed them out and now when you try to use the remote...pushing any of the buttons it says"remote 2" on my dvd player entertainment system

It could be because when you replaced the batteries in the remote, it defaulted back to command mode 1 (DVD 1/MODE 1/REMOTE 1) so the transmitter on the remote no longer matches the unit - you could try pressing and holding both the [2] button and the [ENTER/OK] buttons on the remote for more than 5 seconds, then releasing. Sometimes with Panasonic remote units, whenever the batteries are replaced, the remote defaults back to the original mode. (mode 1); therefore the user needs to recode the remote to match the command of the receiving unit.

Simple enough to try, and costs nothing, except a minute or so of your time. This suggestion should be mentioned in the operation manual for your model system.

The remote just stopped working. (The batteries have been replaced).

The problem of your remote may be the battery terminal or the sensor, checking the led sensor without using a tester, you should have a cellphone with a camera, point the sensor of your remote in to the camera lens then press any button then look in to the lcd monitor of your cellphone you will notice that their is a red glowing light, if no. try to check the battery terminal specially the one that is connected in the pcb you should remove the housing of your remote then if properly connected try to replace the led sensor. Some advice, do not throw your original remote cause universal remote has limited function sometimes you cannot accessed the main menu.

The remote control on our Toshiba SD-690KA player has stopped working. Replace batteries... still not working.

Took the batteries out... pressed each button on the remote individually... put batteries back in. It works fine now.

My JVC DR-M70 dvd recorder tray won't close.

Sorry for the delay in following up. My tray problem appears to be resolved, but I wanted to wait a few days to see if the problem returned.

After reading several suggestions on various sites for other makes and models, I started experimenting to see if any would work on my machine. I made several failed attempts before hitting on the right sequence of steps. To the best of my memory, THIS is what finally worked for me:

1) I gently pushed the tray back to it's closed position (note: the solution did not work during previous attempts when I left the tray open)
2) I unplugged the machine for 30 seconds,
3) holding down the remote's open/close button, I plugged the machine back in and immediately pressed the stop button on the player, holding both buttons down for 30 seconds.
4) I unplugged the player AGAIN for 30 seconds, then plugged it back in.

A MIRACLE! Upon hitting the open/close button on the remote, this time the tray opened exactly as it should, and it's been behaving itself ever since. I don't know if any of the steps I performed were unneccesary. All I can tell you is that every time I left out a step, it failed. The first time I followed every step, I had success.

As for my remote: I put in fresh batteries. The open/close button still occasionally tells the tray to open and close simultaneously. tvdokter has suggested cleaning it on the inside, but unfortunately, I only see one screw (inside the battery compartment.) I can't see how to get in without breaking it. Oh well, at least I'm back to be able to play and record my dvds.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I hope this solution will be helpful to someone else down the line. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free.

Remote stop working

hi does the controll have a button that says tv or vcr if so press the vcr button and try that if that dont solve the problem then make sure batterys are in right way and check the terminals are free from corrosion if this still dont work then the best thing to do is take the case off the remote and usually the problem is a build up of dust or grease on the board or on the back off buttons clean the board with dry cloth and clean the back of buttons remove any dust or grease from the board and buttons then put back together if this still dont work then you probably need new remote.
It will cost more than the remote to get repaired you can buy an all in one remote that will operate this for you let meknow how you get on ok
