I have that same problem. What did you guys do to fix it? We've replaced the motherboard in the past and I'm really hoping that isn't the problem again.

do you ever get anything from the motherboard or BIOS on the screen such as... does it ever show a screen where it says Gateway and lets you get into the BIOS or is the screen always just blank?

Computer will not boot up. Press power button to turn on, fans whirl up to full speed, no power/hd lights, no screen display.

This sounds like a motherboard issue, but first swap out the ram one at a time, next remove the hard drive, if no change remove the video graphics card, "if detachable" disconnect any hardware that may load down the motherboard including the dvd driver, if after everything still no change the motherboard will need to be replaced.

No power through mb. CPU and case fans start then stop. Monitor does not come on, HD does not kick. HD access light is constant. green light in back stays on, but computer does nothing else.

make sure this hard drive is getting power

Test or replace your PSU power supply unit

one bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems continually rebooting or failing to detect your drive

replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

hope this helps?

Loud beeping sound on start up , now will not start up , power ok

First remove the Ram and boot the system without it. If you hear continuous two beeps, then the problem is with the Ram, you need to replace it. If nothing happens, then your cpu or your motherboard is gone. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

Help! Computer will not boot-up to bios check,

I would look for the CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard, if there is one, and while PC is off take of the jumper, then put it back in place. But the more easier option is to just simply remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard, unplug PC completely first, leave it out for a few seconds, then replace it. If that works, you may come across some operating system start options to start the os, depending of what version you have make sure you select the Delete sleep mode data/hibernation data(something along those line), and start OS normally. By the looks of it you've tried everything possible, but last resort would be to try the resetting CMOS/removing CMOS battery. If all fails, try testing using a different power supply.

Unplug the computer from the wall, hold the power button in for 1 minute. This will reset somehow the bios and remove any electricity left inside. If still doesnt work take a look to the cpu and heatsink

When I hit power button on computer, power light doesn't come on...and the fan kicks on, but nothing else happens. nothing shows up on monitor except the test screen with 3 colors...the computer doesn't...

THis sounds like a power supply issue.. I had a similar issue with mine. my fan would kick on for about 2 seconds then shut off.
Hope that helps

System failure

do any lights come on ... on the motherboard itself... some have lights some don't.
i would suggest it is a hardware failure.... if you have onboard video remove the video card and attempt to boot.... .. unhooking devices will help you to narrow down what the issue is...
also shut off the power and unplug it.... feel the capictors on the motherboard with your fingers... do any feel rounded at the top ?
