Hello brzmi

You can find Lexmark's support listing for you X5150 AIO (all-in-one) HERE.

And for Windows Vista specifically HERE.

It appears, however, that the drivers for this device are "bare bones". They only support printing for this AIO when it is installed on a Windows Vista system. Scanning w/ this device on Windows Vista is not supported.

If you would like to use the printing capability, then download the Vista drivers and install them.

Is that the difficulty you are experiencing? That you cannot use the device as you had on your pervious computer?

If you need a setup guide, you can find it HERE.

Keep in mind that the manual will describe features, etc. that will not be available to you w/ the device installed on a computer running Windows Vista.

If you still have a computer at home that is networked to your new computer *AND* that computer is running Windows XP.... then you can install the AIO on the older computer and "share" the AIO for your new one to use as well.

If that is an option for you, let us know and we'll step you through that process. You will only get the true AIO capabilities for this device on a system running Windows XP.

Please, let me know if I have answered your question. If I have not, or if you have other questions, please, post back here and let me know.

Thank you
BJ @:)

    Hello brzmi

How did it go? Even though, as I reported, the scanning functions are not available w/ Vista, were you able to get your all-in-one printing OK while connected to your Vista computer?

Hopefully that is the case. :)

If it is, would you kindly take just a moment, please, to rate my "solution" w/ a FIXYA? I would really be grateful.

Thank you once again for using FixYa! Have a beautiful day.
    BJ @:)

My lexmark x5150 printer which I use on a computor with Windows xp system. I am trying to get it to work on a laptop with vsta system and it will not communicate with printer

Use the Vista driver from the Lexmark website. First, check if your Vista is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by going to the Start menu -> right-click on Computer -> Properties. Take note of the System Type. To download the driver, use the links below: - Lexmark X5150 driver for Vista 32-bit - Lexmark X5150 driver for Vista 64-bit
Download, execute the file and follow the instructions on the software.
I hope this information has been helpful. Thanks.

Can't install the X5150 printer

Check the connection:
While the system is on, remove the connecting cable and reconnect to make sure that the device is being sensed.
Let me know if this isolates the problem to the connection, otherwise we can try something else.

Vista will not allow me to connect my lexmark X5150.

here is what I would do if I were you.... go to start, then control panel, then click on printers... find the lexmark printer, right click, delete... hit yes to confirm.. restart the computer... then go to www.lexmark.com then click the tab that has to do with driver downloads.. then click "drivers"... then type x5150 in the model .. then select the appropriate version of windows that you have, and run the file.. that's what i had to do to fix mine....... :)
