Trouble with Saeco Vienna Deluxe

Hello, We have had our SVD for less than a year. Everything has been working great until this morning. The red light comes on after dispersing only a small amount of coffee. The catch trays are all in place and water and beans are there. I have tried to run the water through the steam valve and it eventually cuts out there too, with the red light (steady, not blinking) coming on. I can turn off the machine and turn it back on to reset but the same thing happens over again. I have descaled and cleaned the machine, even going so far as to remove as many beans and water as I can to "clear it out" but it doesn't work. Please advise! THanks! L.M.

I thought that too, but when I turn off the machine and then turn it back on, the light is off... the problem happens shortly after the coffee starts to come through then the light pops on and everything stops. Also, I pulled the drip tray out and turned off the machine and turned it back on and the light is immediately on. So I don't think that it's a sensor... I think something is going on with the water/piping.... since it only happens when it's brewing. Any other suggestions? Please and thank you!

Maybe a sensor for one of the trays is broken, have you checked this out? I'd bet that it probably is a sensor since the light isn't flashing and since all that you've done so far should have corrected the problem. Please check the sensors out and let me know how they look

Thank you for using Fixya and Good luck

I would also suggest to check the sensor wire or see if anything contaminated the inside of the maker

It sounds like you are doing everything right.

From what i have read, a lot of people have had the problem of the red light coming on and staying solid.
When they called to find out what to do they were told to clean out their machines.

I would take the whole machine apart (all of the parts you are supposed to), empty all the beans and all the water. Then try putting it all back together. Remember to prime and see what happens.

Sorry that i can't be more of a help. Others have completely taken the machine apart and emptied all the beans and water, and when they put it back together it worked for them.

If this doesn't work i would phone the company and see if its still covered under the warranty.

Good Luck

Could be the pump gone bad or the flow meter.

Neither is easy to replace. Needs to be brought in for fixing.

On Vienna Deluxe after the beans are ground and ready to drop the espresso shots, nothing comes out and the red light goes on? I shut the unit off for a minute or so, turn it back on and it works ok, but...

Solid red light is a ventilate light.. Try Priming the machine to see if the light goes away.

Something may be in the flow meter. Its the while device between the water tank and the pump of the machine. You would have to open the machine and clean out the flow meter.

Also, if you haven't descaled the machine already, I would start there.

How do I descale my Saeco Vienna Deluxe?

Purchase the Saeco descaler. Mix solution accordingly. Pour into water tank. Run a cappucino cup full of water through the wand. Wait about 20 minute and repeat. Do this until all the water is gone in the tank. (Don't run all the water at once!). Rinse water tank well. FIll with clean water and run through the wand. I do this twice just to be sure I have gotten all the chemical out.

If you want rich - dark - strong coffee, set number between 4 - 8.
(if you can free it up - keep trying

Saeco Vienna Deluxe odd burning smell

gears are probably broke. Happens when to much coffee and coffee ground too fine get compacted into the brew drive unit.

Shreds the plastic gears like butter.

Machine has to be sent out for service, gear replacement is long and impossible for anyone untrained. Trained techs it takes at least an hour if not more.
