Same problem here, mine looks more like Virga that is affecting the top quarter of the TV. If this wasn't an LCD screen I'd say that it needed to be degaussed.

Had the very same problem. Started about 1/3 from the left of the screen and then seemed to move over time toward the right side.

Thought it might even go away as it seemed to also be getting smaller.

Then, one day, while I happened to be looking at it, the whole right half of the screen went black.

Bought on Shopnbc exactly 34 months ago. Just 1300 dollars worth of junk now.

Next time think I will buy a Sony or Panasonic.

No that is part of the LCD. You would have to replace the LCD and that cost more then the sets are worth

Is there any way to get rid of shadow marks or burn spots

Burn is is usually permanent(must replace panel, NOT cost effective)
You may have a screen position in your menu to try to wipe it, where the screen stays all white or wipes across screen from black to white to try to clear it) If it is burned in bad enough now it is too late.

Double Candel light when the electric goes off.

This is a very simple tip to help you in your lighting needs when the electric goes out because of a storm or other occurrence.
Place a candle in a safe non-burning holder. Set the candle about a foot away from a clean mirror. Make sure there is no chance of anything catching fire from any accident or closeness. You will see that the reflection from the mirror gives much more light. This will help in conserving other candles also.

My techwood 37722hd tv has a black mark on the screen how can i fix this

If anything will make a dirty screen clean and looking like new again without damaging the screen it's Weiman E-Tronics wipes. You can pick them up for around 4 bucks at Ace Hardware and they are amazing. My ex got mad and poured a melted candle down my 72 inch flat screen tv after an argument and I tried everything. Then I went in to ace to pick up a bolt to fix a cabinet and saw the wipes. I though why not so I bought them and brought them home and used one wipe and it removed it all. Then I used a second wipe to remove the shine the wax had made. I highly recommend them. If its something wrong with the crystallization however, I cannot be of service to you. Hope this helps:)

Our Rinnai gasheater is in 'n working condition but since we used it the white walls and ceilings are covered with black marks - I am worried that it could be dangerous - any advice?

Unfortunately, you failed to mention the Model Number and whether its a flue-less or Vented unit. In either case, the black streaks you see on the walls and ceilings is soot. If it's a flue-less unit, this is an indication that the unit has not received routine maintenance on a regular basis. The sooting is caused by a dirty or clogged burner or low gas pressure.

Also, burning scented candles and operating the heater at the same time, will cause soot. Not from the heater, but from the candles. All candles soot, but scented candles soot more than others. Combine them with the warm moist heat and they will soot 50 times worse. If this is the case, it's the candles sooting, not the heater. Stop burning the candles while the heater is in operation.

Is the soot dangerous? Yes, to the point that you are breathing it in, when it;s floating in the air. The sooting didn't occur over night, it has been doing it for sometime. You finally realized it, when you saw the black streaks. Stop using the heater until it is professionally serviced by and authorized Rinnai Service Technician and the walls and ceiling are cleaned.

You can either remove the soot yourself or have it professionally done. Then, you should prime paint the walls and ceiling with a sealer like Kilz, before repainting. All curtains or draperies should be washed or dry cleaned. All furniture and carpeting should be vacuumed thoroughly.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

We bought new Dimplex baseboard heaters when we re-did all of our rooms and the new heaters are leaving black marks (like smoke damage) on the wall above the heaters. Our walls are ruined

Stop burning candles! Yes, believe it or not the black is smoke from candles which is deposited there by/because of air flow. How did I know you burn candles? Been in the HVAC business a long time and that is the only thing I've ever seen cause it!

It appears to have been on fire, surronding walls & unit covered i

hmmmm... maybe it was on fire... Barring that,
One thing to be aware of is how these things work: they don't actually filter the air. Rather, they electrically charge dust/dirt/etc. particles in the air as they pass through. This new charge makes them attracted to walls, floors, objects, etc. So rather than straining or filtering dust from the air (like a more traditional air filter), they make dust more likely to stick to walls, surfaces, etc. so that you can then wipe them up.
If there is something in the room that is manufacturing air pollutants, it could cause the problem you're having. The most likely culprit is anything that makes smoke. For example: smoking (duh), or burning CANDLES (especially scented candles) or INCENSE.

Tv screen constantly has a film on the screen surface

Televisions typically electrostatically attract dust and particles in the air -- it's unavoidable. If you do a lot of cooking (particularly fried foods) near the room where your tv is, it could be that it is attracting grease etc from the air...or, if there are smokers in your house or you burn a lot of candles, it could be residue from the smoke or candles.

(By the way, did you know that beeswax candles are the cleanest burning candles you can buy?)

Hope this helps!

NOTE: If you found this helpful, PLEASE, PLEASE show your appreciating by giving me a good rating!! Thanks!

Is this an older gas heat unit? If so, you may have a burnt out heat exchanger, this can be dangerous.
