Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I just returned from a 5-day trip and found the inside of my GE Profile Arctica (PS123SC) hot and everything spoiled. After emptying everything, I pulled the back lower cover off and found that the compressor is not operating. Is there a reset button or technique to restart the compressor? The fan is blowing cool, not hot or warm air, from the back of the unit.

Need to call ge for serviice it could be the compressor or the main control mother board , it also could be the compressor overload but it would be better for eyes on on this one since the parts are quite expensive if it trial by error

if you want to try and have a volt meter that reads ac voltage on 120 through 240 scale ,unplug the unit remove the cover on the compressor where the two wires are going to the compressor, place the meter probes onto the two wires and have someone pulg in the ref if u have 120 volts the compresso is bad, if 0 volts other problem

Sounds like a bad motherboard and probley need control board. You can put in self dianoss. Press all the buttons on panel for 5 seconds. This will start the program. It will check all sensors. Come back with codes and I will help you. Wait to hear from you. I hopes this helps. david_gra582

I hope you unplugged your unit or tripped the breaker. If they are bright red then you have an electrical short that should have tripped the breaker a long time before they turned red hot.

My freezer (ge artica) temperature goes up to 40%, then cools dow

The main problem with the Artica/Profile is that they have a main control board and a thermostat board inside the fresh food compartment. I have a repair manual and will send you a copy if you want but we are going to have to look at the control boards for burn marks. Let me know if you need me. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Help! My GE Profile Arctica runs 24 hours a day...sounds like a fan. It stops when either door is opened, then starts as soon as the door closes. The temps on either side are higher than what they are set...

It is normal operation for ARTICA fans to run continuosly except when the door is open. If the door remains open for 3 minutes the fans will run anyway.
The temperature will vary about 6 -8 degrees from the selected temperature. The temperature will increase during a defrost cycle.
I do not believe you have a problem.
