Question about Toshiba Satellite P105-S6207 Laptop

1 Answer

Screen Problem I turned on my laptop this afternoon and immediately saw that abou 2 1/2 inches on the right hand side of the screen was gone. When the machine starts up, the wide strips is white with closely spaced horizontal lines cascading down the page. When Windows starts up the white strips turns to a solid black one and it remains like that. So, I've lost 2 1/2 inches of screen. Any idea what caused this and what the fix would be?

Unfortunately the fix is a new lcd. The tab welds at the top of the lcd are not allowing that portion to work correctly. As these tabs are fused to the lcd you will need to replace the lcd. My Toshiba M105 is almost the same.(I Have 4" Gone) on the right side. so to use it I clicked and dragged my system tray from the bottom to the side. And shrunk my web pages to utilize tthe good portion.

I suppose I should replace it but being only 18months old the LCD's run about 160.00 USD.(sometimes I just hook up an external monitor.

Why is my laptop getting hot right where I rest my left hand when I type?

Probably where your graphics card and/or CPU is located under the bezel. Make sure you are not blocking the vent holes on the laptop, and try to keep the laptop raised in back to allow heat to dissipate. If it's old enough, the fans might be blocked with dust and/or failing, in which case the laptop won't cool properly.

I have just had a new screen fitted to my toshiba c660-10t but now about 2 inches on the right hand side is black like the screen is ended and half the tool bar at the bottom is missing

Go to control panel, select display, click on settings top right, go to resolutions and highlight your mouse over the arrow move one notch to the right and click apply, another window will pop up asking do you want to save these changes, click ok, repeat process until the desired results are reached.

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and I expect you will find it is displaying OK on the external screen.
Browse ebay for a replacement screen.

My screen has gone darker , Where is the contruct, light dark controll

It's usually on the up,down, left, right arrow keys that are on the front right hand side of the keyboard. They have blue sun type symbols on them. You press and hold the Fn key, that's on the front left hand side, and then press one of the arrow keys to lighten or darken the screen

Laptop screen

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand I would venture that your concern could possible be a backlight assuming your have a 17 inch monitor with 2 CCF lamps or the LCD display screen interface. Initially, if at all possible take a snapshot of the display with the half blank. The picture would have to be 150kb max though.

Pls post back as requested. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
