Question about Fuji FinePix Z100fd Digital Camera

Broken My camera fell from less than a foot off the ground, and there is no external damage. Everything works, including when I play back pictures and videos, but when i put the camera in shooting mode, the screen displays pink stripes. And when i try to take a picture, the screen turns purple and pink psychedelic.

If the screen is okay when playing back pictures, then the screen is okay. It sounds more like an issue with one of the small ribbon connectors between the lens assembly, that contains the CCD, and the main board. The lens unit floats in the chassis and may have dislodged the connector in the fall.

Dear schmex,
It sounds like you have a broken LCD screen this shouldn't effect the image quality, but it might get worse over time and it will probably make it more difficult to compose the picture.

My camera fell while the lens was open and now it wont close the whole way. when i turn it on it comes on then switches of again

Your lens mechanism is most likely broken. The tiny plastic gears in these things break or strip out easily with impact. On rare occasion you can jockey the lens back into place without damage, which at this point is worth a try, but don't cross your fingers! One solution is to find a donor camera on auction that has a broken lcd screen... use one or the other as a donor and transplant the lcd or the lens mechanism (whichever is easier to get at) into the other. I've done this for less than $30, but takes a fair bit of work. If it's a popular camera, you may have to get competitive on your bidding even on the broken cams. :) Good luck!

Hello. I have a Fuji FinePix s9600. When i was inserting the USB cable to connect it to my laptop, the built in USB slot fell back into the camera. Is this something easy to open and repair - assuming that...

There is not magic door to open and pop this back into place and it should go to a service/repair person. However if the camera is still operative you can purchase a Card Reader to do your downloading to the computer. The card reader uses the USB port of a computer and you simply remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into the reader. The computer then looks at this as an external hard drive. My work flow is making a folder in "My Documents" plug the memory card into the reader and then transfer all the picture files to the folder I just made on my computer hard drive. When I open them in a image program I just select file open select the file I need and open it select the picture and carry on. This totally steps around using the camera as a download device. Card readers are anywhere from $10.00 through to $35.00 depending on which one you buy. Single readers are less money while the multiple card readers get a little pricey. Which ever one you purchase it will be a lot less expensive then getting the mini port fixed on your camera.

My praktica camera fell on the ground 3 days ago while taking pictures and it started giving blurred images on focus. please who do i do? i have tried reseting the lens and cleaning it but no avail.

The damage is in the lens housing, which includes a tiny motor that controls focus, if the gears are not operating properly or jamming this will produce blurry images making it impossible to take crystal clear pictures, and on top of that the alignment is more than likely out causing more complexity to the problem. The only option is have a camera technician quickly look at it to see if it might be salvageable.

My d5000 fell on the floor and the filter glass of the lens broke. i tried taking pictures to see if it's still working but the view from the viewfinder is darker than usual and it would not take pics even...

The filter should have nothing to do with the images recorded on camera (I assume it's an UV- or skylight filter).

I'd say there's some more serious damage to your camera and you should take it to an authorized dealer repair shop.

Hi, allow me to suggest using another lens to see if you still see the dark patches in the top corners. If not it is the lens, if so it is the camera. Either way it sounds as though something is maladjusted. Call Nikon digital 1-800-645-6689.

I would consider buying another camera because everything is mechanical inside so chances are the parts inside were damaged when the camera fell that could result in damage auto focus, damaged lens, internal motors and such etc.

Hi,

Try taking out the battery for a few hours to hard reset the camera. Do you see any damage on the camera?
