Question about Kenmore 16602 / 16604 / 16609 Built-in Dishwasher

Door wont shut properly and washer will not start

It looks like the locking mechanism in the door is staying locked so the door will not shut.

Any ideas?

Is this a problem that just happened at once or gradually got worse?
Does the D/W seem to be installed tightly to counter??If it is firmly mounted than you need to take loose the screws that are holding it in place to your counter.Usually there are just 2 of them.Only remove these if the door seems to be hitting something just before it is shut.By opening & closing slowely I need to know if the door seems like it bumps the inside right before its locked.By removing the 2 screws that hold this snug it will allow the squarness of the cabinet to become free & the door will align itself.Alot of installers over tighten the legs & lift the dishwasher into the counter so high that it forces the door to miss the Latch.I'll help you through this ,so let me know ,Thank You!

Ok also if the above I mentioned is fine and door lines up perfect with the door latch............at the time it hits the latch to lock is it like its hitting a closed door and wont lock????Than its easy from here...If this is where your at now than open the door and look in the opening in the door right where the catch is and take a screw driver and move the plastic arm out of the way by flicking it Up/or Down ,its probably in the lock position and it will easily unlock by moving it back(either up/or down ...not side to side)

The dishwasher is not sensing the door is latched/locked shut. Until you find the cause of this the washer will not start.

Door doesn't shut properly to start dishwasher, have to push door to work but stops if you let go

The machine will not function if the door is not fully closed. The locking/latching mechanism for the door probably needs to be adjusted or replaced if faulty.
Also make sure there is nothing inside the dishwasher that is fouling the door (like a basket rack that is not fully in position) and is not allowing the door to fully shut. Pull the baskets out of the machine and check inside as well.

I have a problem with my CDW60W13 Currys Essential dishwasher. The door will not click shut and springs open. I've had a look at the locking mechanism and can see nothing wrong.

There is usually a little latch on those mechanism to keep the door closed. If the latch breaks, the lock spring just pops the door back open when you attempt to close it.

I would repair the lock mechanism. Try appliancepartspros.com for the part.

My elextrolux Esl63010 integrated dishwasher door latch wont close properly, it doesnt click shut, it also starts the cycle when the door is open?

Sounds as if your door lock has gone over the cam or faulty, first plug out appliance look into the hole in the top of the door and with something like a small screwdriver pull back the cam now when you go to close the door make sure the striker is in line with the lock, if the cam does not pull back you will need to replace the lock.

The door lock is locked and now the door will not shut.

Make sure the power is off to the dishwasher at the breaker panel and using a
pencil or some small stick, insert it in the latch on the door and depress the
lever mechanism. This should release the door latch and allow you to move
the handle back to the proper position.

It sounds like the problem maybe with the door lock circuit. This is a safety feature that is the door lock mechanism, it completes the circuit to allow the dishwasher to run when the door is locked. Reading your trouble note you state the light goes out when you attempt to close the door. Light out means there is no circuit through the door lock mechanism so the dishwasher will not work. Take a look at the lock with the door open, make sure it seats properly, though it maybe opened internally, this would require a professional to fix.
