Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Error message "More than one ink tank installed...etc

Hello,

I've only had this printer for maybe 2 months, used it 3 times, and now everytime I try to use it I get this error message..."More than one ink tank of the following color is installed. Black [8]

Use only one ink tank per color at a time."

So I open it up to find that ink tank full and the red light on and its flashing, I take it out and put it back in -stops flashing, and still get the same error message.
Its the correct ink, it has two black tanks, how can I fix this, I cant print anything!

Thank you,
Tammy

My computer tells me there is more than one yellow ink tank installed, although there isn't. If I open the printer, take out the ink, put it back, it sometimes works for one copy where after it comes up with the same problem. Now that doesn't even help anymore.

  • extraCrisp Apr 24, 2008

I get the same error message: "More than one ink tank installed...etc Check 8(blk). The cartridge seems to be fine. In fact, i replaced it with a new one, and a few days later, the same problem.

    My solutions:
    (1) Generally, I can only fix this by taking out the cartridge and putting it back in. Sometimes I have to do this several times.

    (2) Also, sometimes turning the printer off, waiting, and turning it back on, is enough to clear the error code.

    (3) I try to always turn the printer off when not in use. I do not let it go into Power Saver mode and let it just sit. When I turn it back on to use, it works... so far.

I hope this is just a software malfunction and there is some sort of fix. thanks

I have the exact same problem as previously mentioned. Please help. It is very frustrating.

I get the same error message..."More than one ink tank of the following color is installed. Black [8]

Use only one ink tank per color at a time."

Its the correct ink, it has two black tanks. This causes not only a printing problem, but also a problem with sending faxes!

I would like to know if anyone else has had a problem with the power supply packing up after the 1st set of original cartridges was still in use. Other than that I cannot fax more than 1 (one) page at a time! The document feeder grabs all the paper at the same time.

Partserve, agent for Canon in South Africa is totally useless and am still waiting for replies I send them a year ago!

    Please can you assist?

Why is my computer saying check ink UB150 or when I go to print it says more than one in 5 installed

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2008

The Canon MP530, when print job is sent, displays the following message - ..."More than one ink tank of the following color is installed. Black [8] and no printing is performed. On opening of the compartment the Black [8] cartridge is flashing as the offending cause of the error. On removal of the cartridge it is clear that there is ample ink. I have been hoodwinked into buying replacements and they are sitting on my desk still full of ink. So it cannot be the ink - the fault or casue of the problem must be either with the chip on the cartridges, the machine or a design fault. Please note I have not printed enough documents to even empty one of these Black [8] cartridges However as a result of this fault I have enough stock to last my grandchildren. The ritual of opening and closing the printer, removing the offending cartridge, then replacing the very same cartridge because it is full of ink is monotonous, disappointing and time consuming.

I have the same problem but with the yellow cartridge. If I turn off the printer and turn it back on it will print but only once and then the error message again.

  • Ashley Kemp Oct 02, 2008

My printer has the same issue with the yellow ink tank. It appears that most people have purchased new cartridges, however, I already did that- this is my second set of cartridges, any advice?

    Thanks,

    AK

I have a Canon Pixima MP530 printer. I had the same problem with the [5] black ink. I tried cleaning all of the contacts with no success. I put another new [5] cartridge in and the problem was solved.

Posted on Apr 04, 2010

This was solved for me, it was the contacts, they sent me a new cartridge and I havent had a problem since, its been months.
I hope for all these ink cartridges getting tossed and replaced -they are getting recycled, suppose it's better than tossing out the whole printer.
Anyhow - solution is, get a new cartridge.

I'm trying to use refilled ink cartridges in my Canon MP530, but I get a V (or U) 130 error message. Any thoughts?

CHECK INK
A.
U130

An ink tank that was once empty is installed.
Replace the ink tank.
Printing under the situation may damage the Print Head.
Canon shall not be liable for any machine malfunction or damage caused
by refilled ink tanks.
If you want to continue printing with the refilled ink tank installed, press
and hold the [Stop/Reset] for at least 5 seconds, and then release it. Using
refilled ink tanks are memorized.
* This operation will release the function for detecting the remaining ink
level

B.
i am not sure but is working on 520
1. print mono or print color for color
2.stop
3.ok
4.on/off
  1. Switch the printer OFF
  2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
  3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
  4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)
  5. After a few seconds (when the printer go ON) you can release buttons 1, 2, 3
  1. Maybe step "c)" is not needed
  2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge - try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
  3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons - you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)

Canon Pixma ip4200 printer, error 1414

Hello there,

I've gotten in touch with Canon and have something a little different to try. At the very least the error should change. (Sorry, gallows humor). Please read this entire response before taking action.

After the upcoming test procedure, I have included a link and procedure to contact Canon tech support. The assure me they will replace any faulty tanks.

The purpose of this exercise is either rule out ink tanks that are behaving or isolate the one(s) responsible for the 1414. You should write down the results of this test. Please perform the following:

1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.

2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.

3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as they are not currently installed in the printer.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.

5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of the issue is the last ink tank.

Then click on e-mail support.
Fill out the form.
Under description, supply the following info:

Error 1414 Ink tank problem on my Canon PIXMA iP4200
The error won't go away.
I have replaced the <color in question> tank, reseated it, yet the error remains.

You will also need to list what inks are being used in the printer. State the type of ink that is being used and the order that the tanks are installed in the print head.
Provide the exact part number (such as BCI-6C, BCI3eBk, etc.) if possible.

The Canon support rep assured me they will be glad to replace the malfunctioning tank(s) for you at no cost. Please
respond with the results, and specify the ink tank(s) that were not recognized correctly.

They responded quickly, professionally and apologetically. They want to help get this resolved for you.

I hope this helps end the frustration you must be feeling. If you need additional help or clarification, click the ASK button.

Ink tank

Users having problem like ink cartridge is only partial used, but error code appear to check ink cartridge, maybe trying to taking out and putting back, it works sometime and problem occurs again,
  • By replace a new ink cartridge will sure help as the partial used one would be faulty already, and if you are using Canon ink cartridge, do call up Canon to report the issue and they will exchange a new ink cartridge for the faulty partial used cartridge as it due to the unique feature that Canon has build on the ink cartridges not properly done, which resulted to be faulty. Canon's purpose is to prevent the usage of 3rd party ink cartridges.

Error code: U150 The following ink tank cannon be recognized (Cyan)

U150 ink error fixed!

I too was getting the error for unrecognized ink cartridge. Then the little green circ board fell out of the end of the ink cartridge and it hit me that maybe if I put in the little green circ board from the old ink cartridge of the same color, then maybe the ink cartridge would be recognized. It worked! So don't throw out an ink cartridge that still has ink just because of that error and hold onto your empty cartridges in case you need the little green/gold circ boards.

This works!
