Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Maytag Performa PAV 22300AWW washer works eratically at best. The washer keeps filling completely on any water level selection (mini-med-large-oversize) and now the agitator won't work. I'm thinking it is the sensor. I have located other possible solutions. Should I look at the sensor as the culprit, or may there be another solution. Tks.

There is a tube that connects to the water level switch (small med large ) load level, it connects to the outside tub of the washer, inspect it to makes sure that it does not have a hole or crack in it

are you gettting water into the machine woth the power cord unplugged then you have a water valve that is bad , if no water comes into the machine with it unplugged the water valve is ok

if the above two tests are negative then the water pressure switch is bad.

The problem is simple and easy to fix. Your washer has a tubing which runs from the base of the tub to the water pressure switch. It might have vibrated loose from the switch, or their can be some sediment in the tub. Blow out the tubing and reattach it securely to the switch and pump out the water in the tub. Then try it again. I wrote an article about this:

Sounds like it is the bearing on the water pump. Take off back plate and replace and remove 3 screws and two hoses (the one hose is a waste line so make sure you have a bucket to empty our waste water) after removing these remove belt on bottom of pump.

does the water overflow from the waser. also try and fill the washer up with water and when you feel it should be filled to capacity shut the water off to the washer. and turn off the power. After you have done that turn the water back on and turn the power back on to the washer if the water stops running it could be your water valve and is easily replaced. if the water continues to run it could be the pressure switch (water level switch) or it could be a hole in the pressure switch hose.

Maytag Performa washer Waterlevel/agitator problem

CHECK your stand pipe hasn't fell over (the one the drain hose goes to when emptying)If not,Either the pressure switch is broke or there is a hole or split in the pressure switch rubber hose. This switch stops the water when it reaches required level.
