Question about Epson Stylus C88 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Changed cartidges & now black and blue don't print on C88+

This is the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened and I don't remember what we did to fix the problem.
Ink was low and it seems like it always happens when I change the blue cartridge.  I changed black and it was fine but then immediately the blue also needed changing (it was out too) and when I changed the blue, that's when both blue and black stopped working.
I cleaned print heads using the correct utility and still nothing - only red and yellow print.
I think I changed the ink cartridge and that solved the problem last time - bad cartridges?  But they are new and genuine Epson, bought at Office Depot, not expired, etc.
Any help is appreciated....
Thanks,

Try to remove and reinstall the blue and black cartridge and check if you punctured the plastic cap underneath the cartridge itself. then reinstall it and make sure you hear a click or it snaps in. try head cleaning cycle from the utility and print a nozzle check pattern. If same output maybe carts are bad. If that is a genuine epson ink cartridge, call epson and have the ink cartridges replace since they are new ones and for sure epson will send inks since you just bought it. make sure you have date of purchase handy.

pls dont 4get to rate solution if it helps... thanks!!

Is it possible that you accidentally put the wrong colour cartidges in the wrong spots? Otherwise, it should work fine. Also, the printer's default is usually to print in colour, therefore even pages in black and white will usr colour, which uses up coloured ink. Always check the prooerties when printing to switch to b&w:)

Hello,
Sounds like your print head may be faulty. If you can, get it replaced. This is caused by using recycled cartidges or faulty ink cartridge.

Thanks,

I just fix in new black and coloured cartridges and only black and red colours appear on my prints. the replaced coloured cartridge was giving similar print problems.

hi im josh in cebu phils. friend may i help you? it happen try to shake the cartridge that doesn't print.and install it again and just remember this: Problem: Your Color Printer Doesn't Print All Available Colors This problem is most likely caused by an old ink cartridge. It's not unusual for some colors to get depleted before others, throwing off your color output. If you're seeing less blue (or red or yellow or black) than normal, chances are it's time to change your cartridge. so thats all good luck

Black ink not recognized

Select printer, properties.
Select printing preferences, select advanced.
Select more options.

Make sure you do NOT have Use color cartridge for all black printing selected.

(I had set that a while ago when my black cartidge ran out when the kids had a paper due - I forgot I had reset it. Once my color cartidge ran low, everything printed pink).

Let me know if that works for you.

Most common problems like this come from non-genuine cartridges, or refilled ones.
