It's mean that the bios of your computer cannot sense or found the hard disk. Maybe the harddisk cable or the power cable is disconnect. try to open your computer in check if the cable from mother board is property connected to the hard disk and also the power from power supply is inserted property. Or worse maybe the power of your hard drive is defective. If you computer bios have an option hard drive detect try to detect it maybe your setup setting in the bios is in correct also.

Your hard drive is not being recognised by the motherboard. Try this...

  1. Unplug your computer from the power supply.
  2. Remove the side cover on the case.
  3. Unplug the 2 cables from your hard drive. (it will be at the front of the case and look like a block of metal with 2 cables going into it)
  4. The plugs will only go back in one way, so be sure you have them the right way around before trying to reconnect them The power plug has 2 tapered edges on the top and the IDE cable (the thick one) has a notch. Both will match up to the hard drive. On some older driver/IDE cables there is no notch. In this case, the red wire will be closes to the power plug.
  5. Reboot and see if it is detected now.
If not, post back and we can try something else.

After I turn on my computer I get a message that says; Primary drive 0 not found, primary drive 1 not found, secondary drive 1 not found, strike f1 key to continue, f2 to run the setup utility.

If you have a spare working hard drive to test in this computer, swap it out with the existing one. All you have to do is verify that a drive is found during the post. If you get the same message, I would suspect the IDE controller on the motherboard has failed. With the age of the computer (5 years), I would suggest getting a new or used computer to replace it. You may be able to find a replacement motherboard for it, but then to keep it legal with a Windows operating system, you have to locate a motherboard of the same make/model.

Dell: Primary hard drive 0 not found Primary

Sorry, but this isn't a good sign. Drive 0 is most likely your main hard drive, and only if you have a second one would you computer ever find anything on Drive 1.
I would check the connections inside from the motherboard to the hard drive, as well as from the power supply to the hard drive.
Here's the manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx60/en/ug/sffabout.htm#1103481
Also, if you boot your computer to the Dell copy of Windows, go through the motions of reinstalling Windows and you probably won't be able to detect any drive to install it on.
You'll most likely need to replace the hard drive altogether. Sorry!
Hope this was helpful for you (even though it was bad news)! If so, please give a rating!

I recently moved and when i went to start up my computer it takes me to a blue screen say memory is being dumped. Prior to that though there is a screen saying that a "0 drive" can not be found. Any idea...

Your 0 Drive is the main hard disk drive in your computer. That is where Windows is installed. If the pc doesn't see it, it cannot start. If you've moved, the hard drive cable or power connection may have come loose. You can try opening the case and reseating all connections and see if that works. If not, it's possible your hard drive is damaged and not working.

It will come on but it says primary hard disk drive 0 found and secondary hard disk drive 1 not found

  • Hi, there are (3) three areas that you can search to find: Hard Disk Drives. 1. From the Desktop, click on the Computer Icon to open the "Hard Drives (window)," next find the Hard Disk Drive (1), this is the "Primary" (C:) Drive. 2. Next, in the Devices with Removable Storage (1)below is the "Secondary" Drive, this will be the (CD or DVD Drives (D:), for "External Drives" the drives locations will be (E: or F:). 3. "If the CD, or DVD Drive is present in this area?" Right click to open, select the Properties "icon" the window opens; in the "All disk drives" (block), select, and "highlight" the CD or DVD Drive, next click on the Propertie's button below! 4. In the Device Status (block), see: if the device is "working properly?" Next, click on the Drives button, select to "Update Drivers." Note: The computer screen may "blink' (3-5 times), this means the update has taken place, Click on the "Apply and OK buttons, to finish. "You may be ask to "Restart the computer, if not? Restart the computer." *The "Second" area is the "All Programs" in the Start Menu, scroll to find: Media Disk Player. Select to open, click on "Setup, and Install." Follow all instruction carefully! *The "Third" area is in the Control Panel from the Start Menu; find in the (right pane). Open the "Contol Panel" go to, and select Hardware and Sound, in the next window, click to open the Device Manager; scroll to find: DVD/CD-ROM drives. Click to open; do the same as above instructions, step by step. "Did this solution help? If so, Helpful Ratings Feedback is appreciated, thanks paul7of9"

Primary disk drive not found

Check the connection of your hard drive and make sure it's plugged properly On The Motherboard.

Is this a SATA drive? Has it ever operated properly? If worse comes to worse, you'll have to reload windows from scratch.

Dell optiplex gx110 device detection problem

I'm guessing that the computer is not booting at all. This is saying that it cannot find any hard drive to talk to. Drives are labeled in the computer code with numbers starting at 0. There are up to 2 drives on an IDE ribbon cable, the Primary, and the "slave" or secondary. So, possibilities are that your hard drive died, the power connector to it came loose, or the power supply itself is having an issue with that connection that is attached to the hard drive.

Dell dimension 2400 diskette drive 0 seek failure

Check your BIOS setting to see if it detects the hard drive (Primary disk 0). If it can't detect the hard drive then the hard drive maybe faulty. Open the case unpluge the IDE cable from the hard drive and reconnect it again, also unplug the IDE cable at the motherboard and reconnect it again including the power connector on the hard drive.
There maybe an option to test the hard drive in the BIOS, if so use it to test the hard drive.
If the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace it and install Windows, the various device drivers and your programs to get a functioning computer again.
You might consider buying a new computer (it will be faster & better than the old Dell) and you have your new monitor to go with it.
