Yes you need to return it because if you using dial up internet you cannot satisfied the output of the tv because of slow connection. If the company does not allow you return you better to upgrade your connection to the dsl to solve the problem

Recorded programmes from some channels break up- both the picture and sound- when replayed

I've got one. Does exactly the same thing. It usually happens within the first, say, 10 hours of recorded material. This is the most used part of the hard drive disc. We have 5-9 hours of programs we intend to keep so we end up re-recording over the next part of the disc repeatedly. This wears that part down. What I did was keep 2-3 hours of stuff in that zone and carried on recording and deleting as usual, as I still do. I'm watching it right now. But if I erase past the break 'zone', the recordings 'jump'. It has a big memory and shouldn't be a problem. So..........fill with programs to half the disc and record over the lesser used part of the disc.....it works for me. I'd be interested in hearing how you get on. Good luck Red.

My picture and keep on breaking up on some channel

If you have a good picture on some channels and the picture breaks up on others , it could be the input signal. What is the source of the input signal; i.e. cable, satellite, antenna???? Do you have a cable box? The problem may be with the box or with the provider's signal.

Magnavox tv converter box some channels have no sound

When you program your HD converter, it searches for all available channels in your area and you may find, as I have, channels you never knew existed. As for the audio problem, some of the found channels may be so weak that all you get is the picture - no sound. You can delete the problem channels but they are likely to pop up again on your next programming run.

When using cable input video is good but sound has fuzzy static

Your TVs tuner tuned a little off frequency. It could be as simple as having cable box on where you have good picture but fuzzy sound, use the TVs remote to change the channel and then change it back to proper channel. If that doesn't fix you may have wrong tuning type selected in channel set up menu.

My VCR not recording after the switch to digital tv signal

The answer to this question can get a little complicated. Lets tackle it in two parts. First the last part; the part about picking up channels as decimals. With analog TV transmission, it took the full television broadcast channel to transmit one standard definition TV program. The newer digital transmission system uses some advanced video compression and audio compression technology to reduce the data needed to transmit the pictures and sound which allows the same bandwidth to deliver either High Definition Television programming or MULTIPLE channels of Standard Definition programs. So in your example above, you use to watch one channel of programming on TV channel 4, but now the TV station can broadcast multiple channels of programming on channel 4, sot they delineate the programs with a decimal point. So 4.1 it the first program on TV channel 4, 4.2 it the second program on TV channel 4..... Well, I hope you get the idea.

Now for the hard part of your question. I believe that before the transition, even with your new digital TV, you were still enjoying the analog broadcasts from your stations. Your VCR picked them up and recorded them and your digital TV could tune them in and you watched as you had always done in the past. After the transition you noticed that your VCR could not record anymore and your digital TV had discovered the digital channels that replace the analog channels. To remedy this situation, your VCR will need the aid of a DTV converter box to tune channels, and you may have to reconfigure the way your TV and VCR are connected. The best resource that I can give your for the reconnecting is the website http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/converterbox_vcr.html. Hope this helps

TV won't "talk" with satellite cable

Try to see if you have 5volts for your EEPROM. If the voltage is normal try to replace your EEPROM or try to reprogram it. Your EEPROM is corrupted so that's why it will not store data.

Sky not working properly on my samsung lcd tv

This is likely to be caused by the changing of the screen mode between ads and or programs, by your TV.

If so, changing the Sky output to 16:9 will fix it.

Press [Services]

Select option 4 - System Setup

Select option 1 - Picture Settings

Change "Location 1" TV setting to 16:9 (This will make the Sky box handle any changes and give you a permanent widescreen output to your TV. This is the recommended setting for widescreen TVs, but sadly, few Sky installers bother to do it.

You can also change "Location 2" if you have a second widescreen TV connected in another room.

Whilst in this menu change the Video Output to RGB from PAL (If not set already) RGB gives a much more stable picture (particularly on the menu system)

Go to Save new settings and press [Select]

Exit the menu system, and you problem should be solved.
