Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

When I turn on my Pioneer Pro-Elite 530HD, it stays on for a few seconds, then automatically shuts off, then turns on, then turns off...again and again until I manually shut it off. It's like a breaker or something...do you know what is going on?

I get a great picture for awhile, then it will randomly go in standby for a few seconds, then come on by itself (great picture again), but then it repeats this over and over until I completely shut the TV off.

I thought I would give you a little more detail, as it doesn't appear to be a shutdown mechanism (at least I wouldn't think so if it's turning the TV back on by itself). The problem is that it's just going into standby, then on, then into standby, then on, etc.

Any ideas what it could be?

All modern TV set have a protective switch that turn them off when a short or an over voltage is detected. If the switch is turning your device off it is better to have it fixed, if you keep trying to restart it to many times you can damge your tv.

Your set was going into protective shutdown. Probably a leaky diode that was raising voltage that triggered the shutdown circuitry.

I think it might be the lamps then,

The first thing you can try is to remove them and see if they look clean and then put them back in

If that solves it Great! If not, they and the ballast would be the first things to get replaced

You have a short. i would start by unsoldering the convergance ic's or unpluggin the board if it is by itself and try it on again, if it comes on then replace all conv ic's and check resisters. if this does not fix your problem then check vertical ic for cracks, solder it anyways.
then check h-output for cracks, its a transister on a heat sync next the the high voltage transformer. if that doesn't get you goin, check all fuses again, check for raised caps in p/s. also check for b+goin to HVT durring turn on.

convergance ic's are usually in the front on these. and may only be one big ic. but since this is a newer set they have prob gone away from the monster single ic. so should be 2 or 3 big ic's mounted on big heat sync's. good luck

What's your problem?Pioneer PRO-530HD 53 in. Rear Projection Television flashing red standby light

This and a few other models like it have one real common issue:

they develop from age and heat bad solder connections all over the power board (rather large board).

My experience with them is the fix usually is remove rear cover and follow power cord to power board (a lot of plugs to mark) and remove that board----then solder every single connection on the board which by the way has some special fuses on it.

I have multiple colors on the screen of my 530hd pioneer elite TV when it warms up. When I try to adjust the convergence I am unable to move the red line far enough to converge on the blue or green line.

The convergence of your tv is defective try to replace it. You will find the convergence chip inside your tv, try to open the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug the tv first. Try to look the large aluminum plate it is the heat sink, your convergence chip is attached to that heat sink it has a marking of stk-*** followed by a number you should remove it from the pcb using a soldering iron, and soldering pump but be very careful you might damage the pcb and may caused another fault to your unit. Or you can contact a service technician to save you from stress. Good day and best regards.

Pioneer elite pro 100

My set is doing the same thing again. The last time I fixed this (4 years ago) it was a capacitor gone bad in the power supply for the 24v standby circuit. (C166)
The service manuals can be ordered directly from Pioneer Part Number ARP3014 for Pro-100 model.
