Believe it or not, Radio Shack carries quite a few replacement antennas.. whether they have one for your specific radio or not I'm not sure, but they're worth a try. If you can bring your old antenna with you to make sure the mounting is the same, might save you a return trip.

Have a bose wave and live in a metal building. Can't get hardly any am fm radio recept. 3.5 mm antena jack. Can I get an am fm antenna? And do I need to mount antenna outside?

The Bose has the option for external antenna, but uses the AC cord as the antenna, so first try stretching your AC cord to its fullest extent in a straight line, then in different directions to see if that improves the situation. This is for FM only. The AM uses an internal ferrite rod antenna, and this is sensitive to direction, so try rotating the radio in different directions to see if signal improves on AM, and place unit as near a window as possible.

If none of this helps, you will be able to use an external antenna, and no it is not mandatory that they be mounted outside ... as long as you have room indoors. In fact, several manufacturers market indoor antennas for apartment dwellers and others under restrictions against mounting antennas outdoors.

But, logically, the best way to improve reception is the largest antenna mounted as high up and as far away from obstructions between the antenna and transmitter as possible.

Good luck.

Assuming you're talking about listening to radio not CD, I feel like an idiot asking this but do you have an antenna attached to the FM antenna input on the back? If not, attach one. The FM antenna in the power cord is rudimentary at best. Putting your hand on it makes you an antenna so hissing stops. Move away it starts again.

The AM radio doesn't work on this radio? What's that about?

Often times these small radios need antenna help. I know that some radios use the power cord for the fm antenna. If your radio has a spot for an external AM antenna on it, they are cheap and can be made with lite skills.

Can't seem to tune many stations at all. Also once a station is tunned it "slips".

The antenna works with the power cord. Try extending the length of its power cord with an extension cord.
Position of the radio in the room, the furniture in the room and your position in relation to the radio all affect its reception.
If there is a place to connect an external antenna, this will be helpful. Check with Radio shack and best buy for a FM loop antenna. Usually the wire is flat.
An inexpensive antenna for FM only is also a cheap alternative

Am fm reception bad

FM reception is weak

What to do

• Extend the power cord as much as possible. The FM antenna is in the power cord.

• Move the power cord to adjust the FM antenna

• If you still have problems with FM reception, you may need an external antenna.

* Call Bose®Customer Service to request one.

The external antenna on your radio is a coax (round) design It needs an adaptor and an antenna which are cheap.

Easy to make, radio shack "F" connector 90 degrees or straight, to 300 ohm wire connections. Attatch a 300 ohm flat ribbon antenna cable to those two screws and plug into radio and see how your reception is. You will need to position the antenna wires to get best reception. I have hid them in back of paintings and so on.

Cheapest solution next to putting an extension cord on radio power cord.

You will need to buy a signal amplifier antenna. One that doe not have to be connected to the radio. It will provide the amplified signal and the radio antenna (the a/c line cord and the back of the clock/radio) will be able to pick up the signal from the amplified antenna.[] this web link will show you one type of these antenna's. Copy the web link and paste it into the address bar in your browser. It will take you to the website. There maybe other types of these antenna's but this one had the best price. Call the store and talk to them before you buy the antenna to make sure it will work in your situation. I hope this information helps you with your antenna problems.
