Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

1 Answer

Will not charge. Serial #10GP12TO6KXV Palm 5, purchased 11-9-01. We run windows 98 on our computer. We would like to send this in for repair. I was directed to PDA.com. It did not come up when we typed it in. Please advise what our opptions are. We would be interested in buying a new unit IF it will work on our computer and we can down load the info we have on the Palm 5 to the new unit. Thank you.

    Battery won't recharge
These troubleshooting steps apply only to devices with built-in rechargeable batteries. If your device uses AAA alkaline batteries, do not install rechargeable batteries.
    Charging tips

Is the power adapter plugged in correctly? Make sure that it's hooked up to an active power outlet, and that all connections are secure.
Is your device securely connected? Very lightly wiggle the connection between your device and the charging cable/cradle. If it doesn't feel secure, try removing the device and connecting it again.

Does your device think it's charging?Verify that your device is charging: look at the battery meter at the top of the Applications Launcher screen. It displays a "lightning bolt" symbol over the battery when it's charging.

Have you tried a soft reset? If your device won't turn on, or if it's experiencing other problems, a soft reset may be in order.

Have you tried an in-cradle reset? You may need to do this to reset the charging circuitry. Learn about the in-cradle reset.

and try this link so that you know which one is compatible with Win 98

Hi,
It sounds like the battery might be dead. If I were you I would take advantage of the free chat that palm provides to their customers. I have used it in the past always with good results. I am including a link to that page. Best wishes.

WINDOW MOBILE 5

You can get a large sd card and install all kinds of programs onto that, via the bundled 650 software and using your desktop computer.

Windows base software

The PalmTX comes with the Palm operating system (Palm OS Garnet 5.4) and does not run Windows software. To run programs that you run on your Windows computer you would need a Windows Mobile device. However, there are MANY free and low cost programs out there for your Palm. Try PalmFreeware.com to get yourself started. You can also check out sites like ePinions.com and C|Net.com for reviews of Palm software that you're thinking about purchasing.

Considerations for Windows 2000 - WorkPad c500/505

The WorkPad c500 and c505 can be used only with PCs running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows 2000 operating systems. NOTE: Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft NT 4.0, or serial connectivity, require a serial HotSync cradle or cable, available separately from Palm, Inc. The WorkPad HotSync utility will not sync via IR when the host PC is running Windows 2000.

My hot sync was working fine and now it will not communicate... I have tried everything listed on your website but nothing seems to work please help

My Palm stopped syncing on both my work and home computer at the same time. I have been syncing fine with XP and USB. I found a thread where someone mentioned getting Palm to send you a Palm Reset Card. I called Palm and they didn't offer this solution, but I asked for the Palm Reset Card and it worked beautifully! They took my call and sent the Reset Card no charge. Unfortunately, nobody at Palm seems to know about this solution.
