Won't Open I have been attempting to download GIMP for a while now. My computer is a Mac, version 10.5.8 Whenever I download GIMP, I am allowed to click on the Icon, but when I do, nothing shows up. Next to the GIMP icon in my Dock, Archive Utility always pops up next to it and I can never get GIMP to ACTUALLY open. Anybody have a clue what's going on?

It looks like your version of iPhoto may not be compatible with OSX 10.9.5.
Can you check which version of iPhoto you have installed... go to Applications, select the iPhoto icon, press the "command" and "i" key at the same time, and see what it says under 'version'...
I would suggest launching the App Store application and checking for any updates, especially anything to do with iPhoto.
If you've updated iPhoto but the library is an older version, then this may help:

There is no driver for your printer to work with OSX. It was for Windows OS only. AND Apple does not support this particular model either.Link below list support printers by Apple OSX> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://www.adobe.com and download a time-limited "trial" version.
Or, see: http://www.gimp.org for the _FREE_ 'GIMP' (Graphical Image Manipulation Program).
It does many does that Photoshop does, and it is _FREE_ software (for PC and Mac).
there is GIMP available for windows. follow this link: www.gimp.org/windows/ which will lead to this download: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
Try restarting your computer and then try to open the program again.
If that doesn't fix it, Uninstall GIMP and re-download the program and install again.
If the problem persists after that, check CNET downloads for previous versions that would be compatible with your computer.
Hi,
Photoshop is an expensive program that you have to buy.
If you you want to try it, you can download the trial version for free from here:
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop
Another option, and the one i recommend is the free open source program GIMP.
It can do most of the things that Photoshop can do. You can download it for free from the following link:
http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
Hope i helped,
omerk.
Instead of trying to explain a 1000 things about gimp I thought I would try to shorten the process for you The first link shows the different versions of Gimp for different Mac OS's

I use Linux myself but if you've never used Gimp it's a great program. Considering what you pay for Photoshop it's nothing short of a miracle. Hope it helps. If this helps you resolve your problem, please consider giving me a good rating .It will help me as well. Thank you.
Hi. What version of GIMP did you download? Hopefully it is 2.6.6...the latest version. Please try uninstalling gimp, reboot and then download the gimp only from www.gimp.com. And PLEASE don't give up. GIMP is amazing and fun and addictive!
GIMP No i'm not calling you names.=) Click that link and you will download the program called GIMP. I assume your operating system is Win2000/XP/Vista. Like open office it is a free alternative for photoshop. Good luck and thanks again, Lee
what type of file is it that you are trying to open, sometimes you will see gobbledegook if your computer doesn't have the right program to handle a PC word processing and your mac doesn't have Microsoft Office installed. It also could happen with other type of file such as an image, video etc.
Open office can open a number of word documents: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/
Gimp for macintosh opens a lot of image files: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
also if you know what type of file it is, try adding an extension to it by placing a dot then follow it by typing the filetype. For a word document type in .doc for instance
