Drivers are still at the Agfa website at:
http://www.agfa.com/digicam_sc anner_drivers/scanner/snapscan _e42/ You should not need compatibility mode. It's not Microsoft's responsibility
to produce drivers for other manufacturer's hardware and sounds to me like
the calibration on the unit isn't working correctly.
Since Agfa got out of the scanner business, it's probably time to change to
a newer scanner.
