Paper feed broken MFC-440CN

I seem to have broken my printer's ability to pickup paper from the tray. I was undocking the paper tray and snapped a small white plastic "fork". The fork was snapped in two pieces and I can't figure out where it came from. Removing the fork, the tray will go back into the printer but the printer doesn't recongnize that any paper is there.
Can I purchase a new "fork"? And if so, how do I install a new one?
Thanks, sikesix

I am having the same problem. It was ALWAYS sticky getting th paper feeder out once it was empty. Finally it stopped. The "sticky" was narrowed down to a nylon "fork" that snapped in half. I have a replacement for it but i cannot get to the wheels to pop the new one on. Need to find out how to disassemble from the bottom to get this done.

Wipe the paper feed rollers with a clean rag wetted with plain water. You can also replace the feed rollers, search for "paper feeding kit" for this printer. Should be $20 to $30.

Cheap white plastic doohickey that helps load the paper from the tray when you make a copy keeps falling off. Any advice?

You can leave it off if you open the back door and lift the roller assembly each time you remove or install the paper cassette. The only way to get a new one is to order the whole feed roller assembly.

I cannot easily remove the paper drawer from my MFC-440CN printer. I must yank it out which surely must be damaging to the printer. It usually takes about a dozen yanks to free it so I can load more paper....

Hi Ed, that's a common problem, you just need a tiny dab of vaseline on the inside right hand corner on the top edge of the paper tray. There's a ramp there that lifts up the feed roller when you insert the paper tray.

Paper is in the feed tray, but it continues to say NO Paper??? Brother MFC-8460N any suggestions?

Could be a tab or spring broken off of the feed tray, dirty feed roller can cause that error when paper doesn't feed. Paper guide too tight so that paper can't lift to the feed roller also a possibility. Sensor above paper stack out of position.. many possibilities.

Brother MFC 440CN pick up wheels only work about

take q tip and dip in alcohol with printer off clean paper wheels let dry completely. Your printer should be okay then. Make sure you do not drip any alcohol inside the printer and that the printer is off and unplugged.

No paper feed (brother MCF-440CN)

Had a similar problem with the MFC-885cw. Turns out that , if you have a photo paper tray installed which sits just above the main tray, you need to puill it all the way back towards you otherwise it blocks the paper feed. Not the best design feature I've ever seen.

Mfc 8460n paper jam

Check to see if this happens when you use the drop down manual feed tray. If your printer works fine using the manual feed tray the problem is with your paper tray. Check to make sure it is set to letter size. I've found that sometimes the 'teeth' holding the paper stop on the paper tray wear out and when the printer goes to pick up paper, it pushes the paper stop out of position causing the printer to think it's using a different, much longer size paper thus preventing it from feeding all the way through. You'll probably need a new paper tray if this is the case.

MFC 440CN fax machine

Is this through the ADF (top feeder) or from the paper tray? Either one can have some build-up on the paper feed rollers and would have to be cleaned.
