NOT SURE IF THIS LINK WILL HELP YOU OUT.... Click the "Start" button and then click "Devices and Printers." Right-click the printerand select "See What's Printing" to display the print spooler window. Click "Printer" and select "Use Printer Offline" to remove the check mark. The printer should come online at this time.
Please Clarify, does it say offline on the printer itself or on your printer driver. If it says offline on the printer itself, normally pressing the go button should put it online. However, at the age of that printer the buttons could be dirty/worn out, I have had control panels fail quite often as of late. If it is saying offline on the computer driver then that is a whole different set of issues and I would need to know what operating system you are running.
Open up your control panel. Go the devices/printers category. Your printer should show up in there. Right click on the printer icon and there should be a drop down menu that allows you to put it back on line.
Printers often go off line for no reason. It can be genuinely off line or the pc is just not seeing the printer anymore To put it back on line all you need to do is open the print queue (double click on the printers icon in printers devices/ printer and faxes) go to File and in the drop down list it will say "Use printer Offline or Use printer online. click on it and if the pc is seeing the printer if will change and the printer will then start up and print. If this does not work then check your cable to the printer or your network connection to reestablish the connection.
go to Start> Printers and faxes> right click on your printer and be sure "Use Printer off line" is not checked. If it is, left click to put it back on line.
Goto the below mentioned link and select your operating system now click on the next button.
Expand the Utility - Diagnostic Utility and download the print diagnostic utility and this will show you what the problem is with the printer or with the computer
Your going to laugh when you see how to fix this! At least I did the first time it happened to me.
Open a document that you want to print. Go to the top of the page and find where it says "File". Click on file and follow the drop down list almost to the bottom where it says Work Offline. Click on Work offline and this will put your printer back on line and able to start printing again.
