Next step is to reinstall door and panel....
sorry, a bit of sarcasm,, the tub assy is replaced throught the rear of the unit not the fornt.
reomve the entire rear panel and 2 support rails as well. the top springs will need to be removed, and some how support the tub and remove the 4 suspension/shock aborbers, the drain pump aslo needs to be disconnected.the tub then lifts out the back, where you can seperate and reassemble the unit. be sure to mark the position of the silver clampps holding the tubs together, and i dont know why your changing the tub, i would also replace the inner stainless basket as well, (your in that far and if it was for noise issue, not a bad aidea, ahte to put back topgether and find the rear bearing has warped the inner basket support

Replace a door gasket on a whirlpool duet he washer

Hello, I think what you are trying to replace is instead termed as the bellows or in laymans terms the rubber boot on the washer that makes the seal with the front panel correct? You can also view this part on this schematic as part number 5 http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=29389401&pkw_=basket&model_id=5136839&NewWindow=1
Unplug The machines power from the wall. The correct way of doing this job is to remove the top cover of the unit by unscrewing the rear screws holding the top panel down and then sliding the panel towards the rear of the machine and removing the panel entirely. Next step would be to the control panel byunscrewing the control screws and seperate the plug connectors that plug the control to the wiring of the unit. You would then have panel number 4 as shown in this diagram that you would next start unscrewing http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=29389401&pkw_=basket&model_id=5136839&NewWindow=1
You would then use a flat screwdriver to pry over the outter metal retaining ring off the bellows and remove the front of the bellows from panel number 4. Note there maybe several small screws on the inside of panel 4 and sometimes to avoid the awkwardness some do remove the door as well from the panel. remove the panel from the machine. You would next remove the retaining ring around the front section of the outter tub by using either a 1/4" or 5/16" nut driver. Note when reinstalling the bellows after installing the new bellows on the tub replace the front panel. When trying to reinstall the front retaining ring that attaches the bellows to the front panel you may require a second set of hands to hold one section of the bellows while using a flat screwdriver and or a putty knife to pry the oppisite end to its proper seating position. If you have any further questions message me back and here is also a step by step video to give you the basic technicque

The door is leaking when the washer is in use

Inspect the door bellow (seal) for any rips or tears. It may be worn or loose and require replacement. This is a fairly simple repair that anyone can do with a little guidance. The following link explains step-by-step how to install a door bellow on a Kenmore Elite front loader:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

Although the bellow may not have any physical tears, they can also become mishapened over time due to normal wear and not seal properly. You should have a good tight seal all the way around the door.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions.

NOTE: There is another method you may try as well. Although I do not prefer this next method because these washing machines are very heavy, an alternative way of replacing the door bellow is to remove the lower toe panel and tilt the washer back at a 45 degree angle instead of removing the washer front panel. If you use this method, make sure it rests against the wall and will not tip forward. This allows the wash tub to drop down and away from the front panel and gives you access to the the rear bellow clamp through the bottom. This can save you some time.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
appliancepartspros.com
pcappliancerepair.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites have excellent exploded view parts illustrations you can use for part location and assembly. Just use your model number to begin your search criteria.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: These door seals do wear out and require replacement from time to time. However, overloading the washer to the point where items get caught in the door area can contribute to premature wear and tear.

Some additional items to look for that may cause leaks around the bellow:

1. Check the dispenser tubes that pentrate the door bellow. Sometimes they get pushed behind the rubber causing the water to trickle behind the bellow and leak. You will notice this on fill and rinse.

2. Check the rear bellow clamp that holds the seal to the front facing of the wash tub. The clamp can come loose, causing it not to seal properly.

Boot rips

The door bellow on front loaders do wear out and require replacement. However, overloading the washer can contribute to premature wear or rips and tears due to items getting caught in the seal.
