Question about Sanyo PLC-XT16 Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

Sanyo PLC-XT16 Projector starts up and picture becomes available, then shuts down in 45 seconds to 2 minutes. Filters are clean and unit has been shut off for over 24 hours. Will not stay on.

Similar issue; the projector worked GREAT for about 3 weeks - then about 10 seconds after power-up sequence, it shuts off. The TEMP light comes on *very* briefly just before shut-down, maybe 40ms - not at ALL flashing or solid in any way. RESET button on back did not solve problem.

It's been boxed since - we've been using another projector. Lamp seems okay - the SANYO logo startup screen is fine, as is signal until the quick shutdown.

    Possible PCB issue?

    Thanks

Hi there

Is there any on screen prompting ?

If not , open up the lamp door at the bottom and take out the lamp. Check on the lamp's shaft for any irregularity ( i.e. vein like looking black marks or bubbles or a white spot , also check that the fillament on the inside is not broken.)

If you spot anything I listed up here , your lamp will need replacement.

If you cannot see any irregularity , check when the unit shuts down which of the LED's on the unit flashes.

It will either be your lamp or the Ballast ( lamp's powersupply ) that is faulty and will need replacement.

It sounds like the lamp is going.
Do you know how many hours of use are reported on the lamp?

Many times these projectors have circuitry to shutdown when they suspect the lamp is near the end of life. Lamp hours vary and usually will go up to and even beyond expectancy, but there is occasions you can receive a bad lamp and have it blow in a matter of hours...not common but it does occur.

I hope this helps,

All filters are clean on unit but while warming up it locks out on warming temp. If all filters are clean what else would cause this fault?

hi,
check , is the fan is working or not. a fan is used for cooling the lamp,( through out till it is on.) if the fan is not working the lamp will get over heated and the worming message will come.check it first.
ok

overheating. clean out the projector with canned air. dust keeps in the heat. should be done periodically. about every 500 hours or so, depending on usage and environment. if it happens often after that, replace the thermosensor and check the fans.

Starts to power on,then shuts down

Have you checked the filters? I have a Sanyo PLV-75 and had a similar problem.  The normal fan would come on when the unit was first started, then after a few seconds the secondary fan came on and then the unit would shut down.  Called tech support and they asked if I had cleaned the filters. I did it, and it worked great.  Check the manual for where the filters are and hit them first before getting a new bulb.  Hope it helps!
