With adobe profesional you can make a PDF form, and send to the recipients. They can fill the form with Adobe reader and send it to you back, but only the data will be sent to you, not all with the pdf.
You can collect the data with your adobe profesional. Your programmer of medical paperless system can make the program to put that data in your database.
Here is the simple procedure:
1. Create form: Open adobe prof, menu advance --> Form --> create new form. You will go to Adobe design to create the form, there you can also retrieve your scanned document.
Don't forget to put "submit button" and your email address.
2. Then save as pdf form. It is ready to be send to your recipients.
3. The recipients will fill the data and send to you by pushing the "submit button".
4. You will receive the data in your mailbox, as an attachment of email. You can use adobe prof to collect it, example to put it in Microsoft Excel.
Go to menu advance --> form --> Create Spreadsheet from data files. A dialog box will come out, put in the files you received from your recipients. then go on, you will have the Excel data.
For put it in your database of your system, your programmer should create a program/ included in your system's program.

For Guest, to fill up is easy, just open the pdf form with Adobe REader, fill it and click the submit button.

To scan a document for editing purposes, you will need OCR software. What OCR stands for is optical character recognition. This software interprets the document on the flatbed for editing purposes. Reputable OCR software on the market are:

Omni Page Pro
ABBYY FineReader Pro
Presto! OCR 4.0

How do I use my x5495 to scan a resume and then to edit it with my Dell XP computer?

You'll need to scan the document with an OCR software package (Optical character recognition) that will recognize the letters themselves and transmit them to word processing application, such as Word for Windows. Most scanner packages come with some form of OCR utility, so check your installed software. You may already be set up!
Best of luck, William

PDF VS EPUB

About PDF: PDF (short for Portable Document Format) is a file format developed by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange. Adobe Reader is the only PDF files viewer, which can open an interact with all PDF documents. Adobe eBooks can be read by Adobe Reader and Adobe Digital Editions.

What's ePub: Electronic Publication (abbreviated to EPUB, ePub, EPub or epub), a free and open e-book standard, is composed of three open standards- Open Publication Structure (OPS), Open Packaging Format (OPF) and Open Container Format (OCF). EPUB is designed for reflowable content, meaning that the text display can be optimized for the particular display device used by the reader of the EPUB-formatted book.

I need to find out if an account has been set up for me with adobe so that I can use my ereader. Please can you let me know if this has happened. Many thanks susan collacott

Hi Susan, You can check (or set-up the account if needed) through these steps:
When your ebook is connected to your computer via USB:
  1. Click the ebook store icon on the left side of the reading library screen
  2. You'll see that the Sony EBook store opens in the screen > Click on "Sign-in"
  3. If you have an account set-up, your info will most likely be stored there (or you can try what you think your log-in information is)
  4. If not, simply select "New user" or "register" and complete the information to authorize your device.
  5. Please note that this is necessary whether you'll only be using .pdf files or the standard .epub files for the Sony E-reader.
To also be able to read .pdf files, you'll need to download and register with the Adobe Edition for Sony E-Reader. Here are the steps: Link: http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/ and Launch the application It will then install the Adobe Edition to your computer (it will look similar in icon form as your Sony Library, but it is a separate program). You will then use that interface when loading .pdf files to your e-reader.

I AM TRYING TO FILL IN AN APPLICATION FORM IN A PDF FILE AND I DON'T GET ANY OPTIONS TO HIGHLIGHT TEXTS. IS IT BECAUSE THE COMPUTER I'M USING DOESN'T HAVE MICROSOFT WORD INSTALLED?

What program did you use to open the PDF? If you opened it with the default program, you probably used Adobe Reader which does not allow you to edit PDFs. You can import PDFs into several Office suites with add-ons. For example, Open Office 3 has a PDF add-on that lets the PDF be opened and modified in Draw and Impress. There are also online PDF editors and some low cost alternatives to Adobe Acrobat is the full program that makes PDFs. PDFill PDF Editor gets some good reviews
http://download.cnet.com/PDFill-PDF-Editor/3000-6675_4-10295757.html
as does www.pdfescape.com/ (an on-line option). Please note that most will put their logo on your document as a footer or somewhere unless you use a paid version.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(word does the PDF import more easily as I recall (possibly with an add-on) but there are alternatives.)
