Question about Audio Players & Recorders
My Sony CDP-C601ES 5 disc cd changer does not recognize a cd when I load it. I have taken it apart. What I noticed was the cd does no spin up. I suspect the motor that spins the cd is bad. If I take it in to get fixed is it going to cost as much or more than buying a new comparable cd changer?
The C601 will not spin up the disc unless one is detected. If the optics are bad and do not realize that the disc is there...
Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, the optics are bad. The optics in this unit are KSS-240 (I think). This part costs about $30-$40 depending upon where you get it. You can try to replace it or have a shop replace it for you. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost. This is a relatively simple repair. I have done 100s. It usually takes about 45 minutes plus the testing time.
