Sears Kenmore Elite Front Load #45081

My washing machine started doing funny things in the middle of a load of laundry. First it was give me a (F2) signal in the window that tells you time remaining. So I hit the pause/cancel button and then the start button again. It washed for a little time then did it again. I did the same thing and eventually was able to finish the load. Now I have another load in and it ran for a little bit and now it is giving me a SUD in the same window! What the heck is this machine trying to tell me?!

Thank you so much for the step by step repair instructions! I did this and found a styliss from my daughter's gameboy inside the drain which I think may of been the problem. I have never fixed anything before in my life so this was great! Thank you so much for the help!

"F2" is a Long Drain error code, which indicates you are having a problem with either the drain pump or the drain hoses. You will need to check the drain pump and drain lines for obstructions. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the washer while servicing inside the unit.
  2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws under the bottom edge of the panel. HINT: Use a couple of blocks of wood to prop up the front feet of the washer to gain better access to the screws. Once the screws are removed the panel should drop down, and then pull off. If the panel becomes stuck, a slight tap on either side will dislodge it.
  3. Locate the drain pump. It will be located directly under the wash tub (it is the only pump this washer has).
  4. There is an access removal cover on the pump that can be removed to clean out the trap. BEFORE doing this, it is strongly recommended that you remove all residual water from the wash tub & drain line or you will have about a gallon or so inside your washer and on the floor to clean up.
  5. Here’s a helpful way of quickly removing the residual water. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum with the shop vac. This will empty the wash tub, pump and drain lines. If you don’t own a shop vac, grab a bunch of old towels and open the access on the pump slowly so that it comes out at a trickle. Allow the towels to soak up the majority of the water. Close the access and stop the water if you need to get additional towels.
  6. Open the pump access and remove once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there’s nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.
  7. Clean out the pump thoroughly and reinstall the access cover. Make sure the cover is snug, but do not over tighten.
  8. Place the drain hose back in the standpipe (IMPORTANT – DO NOT FORGET!).
  9. With the bottom panel still off, plug the washer back in and select the following on the operator console – DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN, and then press any button under OPTIONS 4 times (it must be the same button). “C00” will show on the console display as the washer begins diagnostics mode.
  10. Check the drain pump for leaks as the washer fills. The pump is gravity filled and will hold water even it is not pumping. Allow washer to run through diagnostics until it begins the wash tub tumble cycle.
  11. At this point, you can stop the diagnostics procedure by pressing PAUSE/CANCEL 2 times. The drain pump energizes and the washer will begin to drain.
  12. If the drain pump works normal and there’s no leaks detected, reinstall panel and tighten screws.
The "Suds" indication is a Suds Lock error. This occurs when you use too much detergent. It can also occur if you are having drain pump problems. I would bet you have a drain pump that is either clogged, or is failing.

If you check the pump and hoses and the problem still persists, replace the drain pump. The part can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number (located around the door opening) and look for item #10 under the "Pump and Motor" heading. If the part is not available you can also find it at the following websites:

repairclinic.com - item #1200164
pcappliancerepair.com - search by part #280187

I hope this helps you.

I'm glad I could help you and congrats on being able to diagnose the problem. Did this fix your problem? You only rated it has "Helpful". I was just wondering if you still had other issues or needed parts.

Please help me and let me know how turn on the machine I have a used washer machine kenmore elite 45081 but i try turn on an I can't. Thank you.

All you need to do is to connect the water line to the inlet and plug in the power plug to the power outlet.
Now switch on after loading the clothes, set to a convenient program.
The washer will start loading with water and then start the wash to go on for spin ,drain and dry.
If fucntions dont work then you have to start checking.

I hadn't washed any laundry for a couple days and then my Kenmore Elite Oasis starting beeping in the middle of the night. My husband had to unplug it because it wouldn't stop. The next morning I did some...

According to the Whirlpool Cabrio (Sears Oasis) manual, this code indicates a "stuck key"

Keypad/User Interface Failure
F then 2 flashes when in:
• Diagnostics Test mode if a stuck key is detected.
• Standby mode if there is a user interface mismatch.

*&^% screws!!!

F2 = Long Drain. Most common cause is something (or lots of things) stuck in the drain pump. There are screws at the bottom of the front panel that can be removed to check it out. If the screws look like stars they are Torx head screws, get driver from most home centers.

Kenmore Elite Front Load - smell of burning rubber while in use

I've never had a smell problem like this before, but I have had the rubber lining to the door "shred", leaving eraser shavings all over the laundry. This happened with my first HE3t and I complained at SEARS and they just sent out a brand new replacement. About a month or two later, the same thing happened. I had SEARS come out and replace that rubber seal, and haven't had a problem since.

Although I can't answer on the smell, I highly suggest you keep an eye out for shavings on your laundry. Also, with the door open, at the bottom you can pull back the rubber seal slightly and expose the drain to be sure nothing is clogged or getting caught in there.
