Question about LG DLE2532W Electric Dryer

Did you resolve your dryer / noise?

Hi,
I've got the same dryer also about 3 yrs old that's never been moved but it makes the same loud thump each time the drum makes a rotation. Have you found out what may be causing this yet?
Regards.

The seam weld on our stainless steel drum cracked as well. We bought ours 8/12/03 and contacted LG customer service via email. They told us:

    Dear Linda,

Thank you for your email. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Unfortunately the issue you are having was not a recall or design flaw Since you are out of warranty it is not possible for LG to absorb the cost of repair.

    ...

LG isn't interested in good will. My opinion is that it was a design flaw even though for legal reasons they are refusing to acknowledge it.

Must be a common problem and manufacturer quality or engineering defect. I have the same problem of a cracked drum and know others with same issue.

You have a problem with your dryer drum.  The seam weld has cracked and the drum needs to be replaced.  You will need to call a qualified LG technician to resolve this issue.

Not sure what it would cost but my recommendation is to call LG customer service and see if they will grant you a one time warranty extension to cover this problem.  This is something that LG knows about and they may help you out.
    Good luck.

New dryer makes a loud thumping full or

I hope he did nt charge you. Because of the seam in a dryer drum, they do make a slight thumping noise but it should not be real loud. I hope the tech took the dryer apart and checked the rollers. One of them may have a flat spot.
I would ask for a factory represent ive to come out and see if they think they would want a dryer in there home that make that much noise.

Dryer has thumping noise.

Yes that is what most likely is the problem to begin with. The drum usually never goes out of round . Replace bearing best choice

Frigidaire Dryer making loud thumping noise in back.

Some things to check.
Worn rear drum rollers, idler pulley, or drum front slide kit.

Hope this helps.

I can only assume by rollers you mean bearings were replaced. Unless your dad measured both the ID Fit of the bearing and the OD fit [ inside diameter and outside diameter of the shaft and housings] new bearings could be on the small side of their tolerance, [new bearings are made to be within a certain amount of "slop" if the new bearing was on the outside tolerance, and the shaft or housing was on the large side of the tolerance, the bearings are still allowing the drum to move, and thump.

OR if belt driven, the alignment of the belt is important, if one pulley is out, and the other in, one shaft will be pulling and the other pushing, again a thump.

Something in the bearing/pulley setup has not been discovered bad yet, it takes micrometers and some knowledge of bearing tolerances to resolve this kind of problem.

Think about it, what can thump in a dryer? The tumbler cage. It is most likely that the journal or housings are wore, second the motor may have a front or rear bearing/ housing the same thing, gone bad,

This machine is old enough I would expect to find a worn housing or shaft, either drum or motor, most likely drum, check the alignment of the belt also, but most likely the thump is not cost effective to repair, plus Dad's time which is invaluable.

Start searching the sale sheets, and reading consumer reports, time for a new energy easy dryer anyway.

Noisy drum

You may have a rear drum support issue. There are 2 rollers,(supports), 1 at 4 o'clock and 1 at 7 o'clock. If the bushing in the roller becomes elongated,(elliptical), it will give a thumping noise, as you describe.
