Hi there!Try to chekc the printer options.You can find them at "Printer and Faxes".Select the printer and then click "properties".After that look around in the "Printer Preferences" for colour and grayscale option.
If a phone extension is attached to your printer, and when someone is trying to send a fax to you.....just answer the phone. then on the printer press the Black button to start receiving documents in black printing or press the Color button to start receiving documents in colored printing.
If your are not using a phone, just press the Black or Color button when you hear the printer is ringing.
This error indicates that the receiving machine (receiver) cannot receive the fax you just sent. The reasons might be unexpected shutdown of the machine (Receiver's machine) just before it completely received [or partially printed] the file you had sent or power failure during the process.
Another reason is, when we send color fax from Hp machine to another Machine (non-hp), this happens due to incompatibility issue.
Solutions are;
1. Restart both the machine after deleting the recently sent/received fax.
2. Send black and white only, not color.
3. Try again after the phone line seems not much busy which means when there's better transmission capability.
During the call, press START FAX Black or START FAX Color (whichever you prefer). When prompted, choose Fax Recieve on the the printer. It should then start to recieve the fax.
initially you have to check and correct this few settings.
To receive a fax manually
1. Make sure the device is turned on and you have paper loaded in the main tray.
2. Remove any originals from the document feeder tray.
3. Set the Rings to Answer setting to a high number to allow you to answer the incoming call before the device answers. Or, turn off the Auto Answer setting so that the device does not automatically answer incoming calls.
4. If you are currently on the phone with the sender, instruct the sender to press Start on their fax machine.
5. When you hear fax tones from a sending fax machine, do the following:
a. Press the left arrow or the right arrow to select Fax B&W or Color fax. b. Press Start. c. After the device begins to receive the fax, you can hang up the phone orremain on the line. The phone line is silent during fax transmission.
