OKI C5500 Fatal Error 177

posted by ktatum on Apr 15, 2008

We keep getting the error message: Service Call 177 Fatal Error.

We have to turn it off and back on several times before it will print again. All the color cartridges are new. It is installed on a server and all the computers accessing it from the server have Windows XP Professional SP2 installed.

I found a 177 Fatal Error message for a C5200 printer that said the fuser needs to be replaced. Is this the same problem on the C5500?

Thank you for your assistance!

Fatal error 177 is related to the fuser. I would like you to try removing the fuser and reseating to make sure it is seated and locked into place good also check for any jams in the fuser area. Power the printer off first, and let it cool down.

If the error continues, if connected to a surge protector or UPS connect directly to the outlet, try direct connect to an outlet. If this does not help, I recommend you replace the fuser unit.
