Dee,
It means you did not finish your last Windows Setup, or your Windows Operating system has get currepte.
So you must have to Re-install the setup.

  • Or if you have system recovery disk you can make recovery of your windows. But in that case your some programs and data might be lost which you have installed or saved after first boot.

Anayways you can try one thing if it will work then your luck, but am not sure, its depends on the data stored on the system bye your previous OS.
  1. Start you computer after beep, satart pressing F8 till windows boot option menu appears.
  2. Select 'Command Prompt only' from the options, press enter key
  3. If you get the command prompt like C:\> or C:\Windows> or what soever. Type SCANREG and press enter.
  4. Follow the on screen instructions. It will make backup then there will be a list of previous dates on which your system was started successfully, select on of the old date.
  5. Then it will try to boot from that settings.

Please post your feed-back

Thanks
Iqbal

are you installing a new hard drive? Why not use the recovery partition and do a factory restore. All the drivers for the unit will install then unless the W7 discs are recovery DVDs you have created W7 install disc probably doesn't complete because of not having drivers for your devices.

Tip

Windows Installation Disc VS Windows Upgrade Disc -NOT THE SAME-

Having Trouble Booting To Your Windows Upgrade Disc?

...Upgrade discs aren't bootable discs. To repair a windows installation, you must use either a system repair disc or, better yet, a windows installation disc (genuine Retail/OEM discs are pretty much your only option to completely reinstall your windows operating system, unless you own a previous full installation disc of a previously released Windows version (such as XP or Vista), in which case you could install that windows operating system and then upgrade to a newer windows OS like windows 7. however if you ever need to reinstall windows 7, you would either need to reinstall the older windows OS, then upgrade to the newer one.

If that isn't clear, I'll sum it up....

Let's say you bought a computer, that computer had windows xp home edition. Maybe you wanted to upgrade from Windows XP/Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Well in order to switch from Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7, (or even from Windows 7 home premium- to windows7 Pro or Ultimate), then you must either:
A) Buy an upgrade disc and upgrade to the newer desired version.
B) Or, Buy a Retail Copy of the version you want to install. (keep in mind that a retail Windows 7 disc can be used to perform an upgrade rather than to competely wipe the hard disc and perform a clean install (delete partitions, reformat, and perform a new windows installation), if you so choose.

The bottom line is, you cannot Install a fresh clean copy of windows using an upgrade disc. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Retail Windows Operation System Installation Setup Discs are "Bootable Discs". Windows Upgrade Discs are NOT bootable. (unless one where to "modify that particular disc, which is not legal).

You might try the Delete or all the F function keys also some computers use cntrl +alt +delete

Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

"This will show you how to create a Windows 7 system repair disc to use to boot to the system recovery options if you don't have a Windows installation disc, can't find your Windows installation disc, or can't access the recovery options provided by your computer manufacturer." If you do not have access to either disc: Windows 7 - Repair Disc download

http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/
a) Insert the Windows 7 System Repair DVD or Installation DVD and reboot.
b) Select the correct keyboard input method and click 'Next'.
Note: If you are using the Windows7 Install DVD then at the 'Install Now' prompt (Do not pick the Install Now option) instead choose the 'Repair your computer' option located in the lower left of the dispay.
c) The System Repair tool will search for a valid operating system and will report that "Windows found problems with your computer's startup options.

Do you want to apply repairs and restart your computer?"
d) Click 'Repair and restart' and reboot again to the Windows 7 System Repair environment.
e) Click 'Next' at the keyboard selection prompt and when the 'System Recovery Options' screen appears verify that the "Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows" is selected.
Note that on your Dual Boot system there now should be only one operating system listed. Click the 'Next' button.
f) Now from the menu list select the 'Command Prompt' option. g) At the DOS prompt type the following three commands: bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot (may return an 'Eliment not found' message) bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
h) Close the command prompt window and click the 'Startup Repair' option.
i) The repair process may take some time, so wait until the process completes at which point you will see two messages "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" and "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically".
These messages are the result of the radical changes made by removing the other drive. Ignore the Send/Don't send options.
J) Close this message window by clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the Send/Don't send window.

Next click on the 'View advanced options for system recovery and support' option and from the main menu once again click 'Startup Repair'.
This time the repair process may only that a few seconds and when prompted "Startup Repair could not detect a problem", click 'Finish' and run the 'Startup Repair' option one more time, click 'Finish', and then remove the System Repair DVD and click 'Restart'. Reboot the computer.

Compaq presario 2594 us laptop , after boot-up get message ( operating system not found) tried recovery disc, will not formate hdd , will get this message in windows set-up , SET-UP...

I've gist had the same problem after flashing bios ...
go to BIOS and change the SATA mode to IDE. it worked for me.
original instructions:
also You have to turn OFF (disable) the boot from network. The error your seeing is result of the network boot rom not finding PXE server to boot from. Again, be sure to disable boot from network.
PLUS it seems if only 128 MB is showing as memory then the memory sticks might be damaged and not able to retain information/data to complete the installation process. Best take them out clean it properly & replace & try again. Nothing to do with BIOS!

My computer keeps saying, "Configuring

Here is how you solve this problem...

1. Boot the computer into the "Safe Mode" options by pressing F8 prior the Windows Logo.
2. Select the option "Repair Your Computer"
Note: If you do not have this option, you will need the client's Windows Disc. Once you have that disc, boot into it as if you were to install windows and after you select the language you will get the "Repair Your Computer" option.
3. Now you can get into Command Prompt
4. From the Command Prompt window, navigate to \Windows\winsxs folder
5. Then type: rename pending.xml pending.old.xml
6. Now reboot the PC, you might still see the configuring updates, but this time it will go away.

and walaaa, there you go..

hope this would help you..

please vote.. thanks so much

The previous windows installation is either damaged, or did not complete, it is asking you to put your windows disc in so that in can proceed with the installation.
The recovery manager must have damaged your windows installation

Can't load computer in safe mode

I'm assuming you have a Windows XP installation on your laptop. If that is so, than I would suggest you to first try and restore the windows to a previously known good configuration. It's located on the same window as the Safe Mode option.

If that doesn't help, as it sounds like you're experiencing lack of memory, you might want to install the windows again, or at least restore it from the Windows installation disc.

Please let me know on any developments.

Ran the Tshibery disk recovery disk. Completed and

Complete the recovery again but leave the discs in the computer. That way if the computer needs some files while rebooting it will take them off the cd....if not it will load and that will be the end of that. Just remember when you boot the computer for the first time to initiate the recovery, when it says to boot from cd touch any key...that is only done one time when you first initiate the recovery...after that do not touch any key if it says that...just let windows boot on it own. Once windows boots on its own, then you can take the recovery disc out and put it away.
