i've had this same problem. it happened to our first microwave at our old home. when we moved, i bought a new microwave. same problem. the microwave beeps continuously as if it is trying to do morse code. help!!! it's really horrible and it wont stop. even if we unplug then plug it in again, it'll just continue.....what's up?

I'm having same problem and I have a Panasonic microwave..

I believe my problem has something to do with the contacts where the buttons sync up with the electronics inside, because I notice that sometimes the buttons don't respond when pressed unless I (as stupid as this sounds: massage the keypad.)

Perhaps moisture has messed up the contacts?

i have the same problem. It says code 2:50 and it is a Chefmate microwave model P70D20AL-D4

GE Profile Over the Range. Starts beeping in the middle of the night - around 300 am - so I guess the beeping is somewhat related to the timer/clock. The error message reads "shortned keypad". There are two short beeps pause beep again then a few minutes pause then the cycle starts again. If I press clear it take care of the problem for that night only.

I have a kitchenaid over range (with vent type) thats about two years old. woke me up at 6am beeping like crazy. unplugged it...plugged it in 12 hours fine, no beeping? humm???

mine beeps randomly and sporadically and also won't microwave certain times. It's kind of annoying but I just unplug it between uses and it's fine. However, I want to know if this is indicative of a bigger problem and want to make sure there isn't any sort of radiation leaking or something else that would be bad

My chefmate microwave won't work at certain times and keeps on beeping. It occasionally displays the code 2:50. No idea what it means.

I smacked the key pad a few times and then it finally alowed me to microwave my food.

I have the same problem, my chefmate microwave will sometimes just flash 6's on the display and beep, rendering it unusable at the time. I usually have to unplug it between uses.

My Chefmate microwave will work good several days in a row and then suddenly just start randomly beeping on it's own. At times it keeps repeatedly showing "6"s" then sometimes it shows "1:40". When this is happening none of the function buttons on the front work. Sometimes I can trick it into working by unplugging it for awhile or with the door open sometimes it responds to pushing the clock button or the reset button. When I do get it to work I will set it for like 15min even if I don't need that much time, not push reset after opening the door to take out food and that way I have spare minuets still avail for use that is unless it starts up again with the "6's" and random beeping. It's only a year old and when it works I really like it and it's just the right size for my kitchen, but I'm ready to toss it out on the highway! Help??

mine keeps beeping and displaying 6's also.

  • JAYDBO Jan 04, 2009

Same problem with the random nonsense beeping -- reminds me of the type of beep you'll get if you leave the dishwasher open before it has finished a cycle. Let me add that in addition to the random beeping, mine will lose the time -- the clock goes blank, just leaving the flashing colon.

We've relegated this unit to an out-of-the-way place in the family room as the beeping is truly annoying. Is this unit safe to be left plugged in? That's the main question.

It beeps to remind you that the last task you gave it to do is finished. It will keep beeping until you unlock the door of the unit.

Kenmore 87002 keeps beeping every minute and I cannot set time. Keeps double beeping when I hit a button Tried unlocking it but still not working

The problem is in the keypad control board, replacement is the only option to remedy the situation, if you decide to repair, check the price of the part first.

Sylvania p70d20al-d5 microwave keeps beeping

I have the same problem with my microwave, the clock disappears and it says "enter" and "amt", I figured out it's the "beverage" button that is sticking. When I want to use it I just press "beverage" and then "reset" and just press them over and over until it stops. Usually it's on the first try, sometimes I have to press them a few times. Just don't do what I'm about to type though, I decided to get my razor knife and cut the button out carefully, I only cut the contacts on each side of the button, now no buttons work, I should have left it the way it was, at least I could use it that way.
