I have reinstalled the software two times - everything seems to be working, but the computer doesn't recognize the camera. It doesn't come up as a choice and I can't copy any of the video clips to the computer. It used to work, but now is not working.
Have installed cam from disc onto my computer but it gave an error message when I plugged in and got the 'found new hardware' message. Something about an installation error. Trying to use 'Image Mixer' to get video clips onto my computer.

http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027421&pathId=26&page=1&archive=true I think you're best option is to look for software that is compatible with your MiniDV camcorder. It seems Cyberlink was the original install software, so I would try finding or buying Cyberlink to see if it will work for your camcorder on a Win7 machine. If the link doesn't work, you might have to cut and paste twice.
It clearly seems that these two programs you are talking about are conflicting with each other. There are two scenarios on which we can work.
At this point of time what i would suggest you is to uninstall the program which came with the DVD Camcoder and Reinstall it again.
If it still does not work than you need to uninstall the Photoshop premier Elements and than check whether the Hitachi DVD software is working or not.
If it is working than you may have to compromise using the Photoshop premier Elements.
Note :- To uninstall a program you need to go to the "Control Panel" and you need to open "Add and Remove Program". Here you will see the list of programs installed on your computer, You may highlight the one you want to uninstall and click on "change/remove".
To install the Hitachi Software you can use the disk you have got with the DVD Camcoder.
Caution : Before you uninstall the Hitachi software make sure that you have the Hitachi software disk with you to reinstall it.
Hope you would find this as a good solution. Will wait for your raitings to find out whether it was of some help or not.
I had that problem happen for a customer recently. I found that they had some critical updates downloaded and installed for their operating system (Vista upgrade, on top of xp) I unistalled and reinstalled their software Nero and Pinnacle and everything worked fine. If this happens too be your problem you could restore from a previous date to roll back your update and check that first.
I hope this helps.
In Windows have you tried clicking on my computor when camera is connected in your usb slot it will show the Flip as a drive.Right click on it & then right click on Setup_Flipshare.exe and reinstall the programme.
Some times software get corrupted or damaged during the use. If it is the case with your cam, the computer will not recognize the device when it is connected. Try Reinstalling the software in to the lap top.
Make sure that the camera and the computer are both turned off. Put camera in the playback mode and turn off.
Turn camera and computer on at the same time and open your editing software. The software should then recognize the camera. Press play on the camera and capture on the software screen at the same time.
