A line usually will run through your picture if your scanner has some dirt on the glass. Try the following: -
Take a soft clean clothe/tissue and ensure the glass where you place your document for scanning is dazzling clean. You may do this repeatedly as the mark might be very small.
This worked recently for the hp 3050 psc and fax machine and am sure might work for you.
Please let me know this help you.

Faxing problems

Check the scanner glass for ink or lint residue. This is what normally causes lines on faxed and scanned documents and pictures. Here is a link to explains it and shows where to check for the residue.

After scanning a document how do I upload the document to my computer.

I am not familiar with the scanning software that you are using. But I am sure there must be a button after the scan completes that says save. Above save it should show the destination of where it is saving like My Pictures or my Documents for example. If it does have have a line like C: My Documents above the save button then to the right of that line you will see a small black triangle click on that and the line will drop down and you can select another destination to save your document.

I hope this helps you out if it does please click on Yes that I did try and help you. Thank you.

I am scanning a photo. I have translucent lines running horizontal through the picture before i print it.

Documents scanned/copied from the document feeder pass over a thin glass area where scanning occurs. Clean this area if sent faxes, copies or scans have black or white vertical lines.
  1. Lift the document cover to expose the platen glass.

  2. Wipe the ADF scan area (C) with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water.

  3. Then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth making sure there are no residues left, especially on the platen glass.

  4. Close the document cover and make a copy of a text document to confirm the black line has disappeared.

Scan views fine; prints fuzzy

Try to change the dpi to the maximum, maybe 600 dpi. This will make the picture more defined.
