Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

1 Answer

NTLDR missing Hi I recently got a used laptop from work and the files were a mess so relocated some of the files. In this process I seem to have moved or deleted the boot files too. I dont have my Windows XP cd with me as I am on assignment in Zimbabwe. Is there anyway to solve the problem without the Win XP cd? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated Regards Westley Price

Without a windows xp cd you are left with only 1 option. If you have a different machine which is connected to Internet or has windows xp installed, you can download the boot files from the net or copy the boot files located on the root of C drive (ntldr, boot.ini) onto a pen / floppy drive. then change the boot order in the bios to boot from the pen drive. It should work if you have the similar partioning scheme of the source computer. If booting is successful, u can copy those boot files to your computer's C drive.

Let me know what happens.

NTLDR is missing problem

NTLDR is NT Loader program and corrupted or missing NTLDR will not allow you to boot up.

Keep your Operating system Bootable CD ready and boot your computer with CDROM. Follow below instructions to repair NTLDR

1. In Windows XP Setup menu press "R" to repair
2. It will show you windows to login (1. Windows )
press 1 and provide administrator user id and password.
3. one in command prompt you have to copy paste NTLDR file from cdrom to c:\ type the following command
Your cd drive letter you need to figure out. Here I am taking it as d:\
or make sure you below command runs by changing drive letter if not able to determine CD drive letter

copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\

Restart the computer and it should work.

Else, again boot from CD ignore Repair option to go in recovery console, and hit enter. It will show you the agreement . Press F8 to accept . Next screen will show you option to repair to continue to fresh installation.
Here press "R" to repair. Not sit back it will take time to repair complete system.

Hope this helps

I get ntldr is missing on my netbook, help in simpliest of terms

Hi,
Pressing Ctrl, Alt and Del just restarts the computer.
"ntldr" is a windows boot file which has become corrupt and unreadable causing the computer to loop on boot up.
As far as i know that laptop does not have a CD/DVD drive so you can't fix the problem unless you have a external CD/DVD drive and a recovery CD.
Is the netbook still under warranty? If so take advantage of that and send it in for Acer to deal with.
If not you will need a recovery CD or Windows install disk, an external hard drive and some patience.
If you need anymore help or advice please post back.

Good luck.

Dell 100l ntdrl missing on start up

Hi,
For some reason your boot files are missing.
ntldr ( NT loader ) is one of the main boot files that is missing.
possibly a boot sector virus.which corrupts the ntldr file.

Put the disc back in, and you can choose to either install the O/S, or you can repair the current O/S, go for the repair,

Should resolve the problem,

Then run a full system vius scan,

Should be good then

Regards
Richard.
