Photos missing Hi I recently changed the resolution setting on my camera, and then lost access to photos on my memory card taken prior to the resolution change. Is there any way I can access those photos? Please help!

What do you mean by "lost access to photos"? Do you accidentally delete these photos?
If you do, you can try to apply a photo recovery freeware that can do its utmost to restore the inaccessible images back as many as possible for you:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
In fact, as I know, this freeware has offered four different data recovery modes for you to restore almost all possible data recovery problems, such as the deleted photo recovery problems, formatted drive/memory card data recovery problems and even corrupted drive/memory card data recovery problems, etc. There, I believe it will also work well on your drive, too.
Note: Always timely back up all your important photos and files on different drives or memory cards.

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

You can recover lost photos from memory card of your digital camera with this
1. Do not save any new photos into the memory card of your camera.
2. Insert the memory card into a card reader. Connect it with computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is Tenorshare Data Recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)

4. Install and open the program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your lost photos.

Many photos have disappeared from my camera, it's a Canon PowerShot DS800 IS. After you've taken a bunch do they get stored somewhere automatically? I haven't deleted anything, and I can only see about 5...

Yes they should have been stored automatically to the camera's SD memory card. Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, and take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. I am missing a large group of photos on my SD memory card but the photos that are on the card BEFORE and AFTER the missing group of photos are numbered consecutively with no gap in the numbering sequence....

Hi Jame23a,

A memory card is structured like a hard drive. It has folders and they have sub-folders.

Many cameras automatically separate pictures that were taken at different settings (image size, resolution, motion) into their own sub-folders.

When accessing them from a computer, the separation is easy to see. On the camera, not so much.

There is an option in viewing to select the images. The sub-folders that separate your pix will be grouped in with the rest of the pix on the primary storage folder. Select that.

Best regards
Mike

Says card full

Hi Mickcommodor,
It depends on what resolution the snaps are taken at.. generally cameras have setting that can be set to take pictures at lower resolution (requires loss space) or medium or higher resolution (takes more space on the card).
Also, I would suggest you to transfer all the pics on the card to the computer and then try formatting the memory card and then try again .. Let me know if that helps.
If both the above suggestions do not work for you then please let me know what is the capacity of the memory card and were you using this memory with the same camera earlier?

Regards,
Srinivas

Missing pictures in Sony Cybershot 7.2 camera

I have meet a lot of people asking similar question. The answer is absolutely Yes. You can always recover the lost photos from your digital camera even you have formatted the device. Formatting won't make the data in your memory card erased permanently. The pictures you formatted are still in the disk of your memory card, just not accessible right now.

The best way to recover them back is trying some photo recovery programs. A nice one is Asoftech Photo Recovery that helped me before.
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

This program can deep scan to find your lost photos first and then perform recovery with nice quality. But before your photos are recovered, please don't take more photos in case your lost photo data are overwritten.

Well, no matter you photos in Canon camera got deleted, formatted by accident or became inaccessible due to camera memory card errors. Chances of recovery is possible as long as you take the right action.

Take a try of this software to recover Canon photos, Not only general photo formats, but Canon RAW photo formats (.cr2 or .crw) can be retrieved easily.

Note: before the photos are recovered, Never should you attempt to take more photos or save more data to the memory card in case chances of photo recovery might be reduced. Hope it helps. Regards.

Canon SD600- Can't access photos

First of all, you should stop saving any new files to your canon camera (or SD card) or taking new pictures with you camera.

Then find some photo recovery software from this site Best Computer Software, which is of high quality and easy-to-use.

Digital Photo Recovery for Windows

Digital Photo Recovery for Mac OS X

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Download and install the Digital Photo Recovery Software.

Step 2: Connect your camera (or SD card, memory card etc) to your PC or Mac.

Step 3: Scan the source drive where your lost pictures located.

Step 4: Recover the lost pictures and save them to another drive instead of the source drive.

Sony Cybershot 3.2MP Camera: Problems with memory stick

Hi,

It's very possible that your card has filled up with the 10 photos if they were taken in maximum resolution and in best quality. Check if there is anything else on the card such as videos. If you want to take more pictures, I would advise lowering the quality and resolution. Getting a bigger card would be also an option since they aren't that expensive nowadays.
