sounds like it can be the hardware. try to uninstall and reinstall the latest audio driver then configure your speaker settings and volume settings. if this does not work, you may need to get the audio card or motherboard replaced.
Right click on your speaker icon in the lower right corner, select audio properties, you can lower the volume of the speakers when you use headphones or you can select a profile from the same screen and select the type of speakers you want to use; headphones, desktop speakers, etc.
Sound is not working. Headphones would work just fine but the built-in speakers stopped working. try to update and reinstall the drivers. The speakers would sometimes work for a second when removed the headphone jack. sometimes it was a short in the jack connection or just a bad connector in the jack. Sooo, just plugg in the headphone jack a bunch of times and after about 20 seconds the speakers will work just fine.
You say that you get sound from the speakers but not the headphones,, what i advice you to do is going to control panel, go in hardware and sound, in device manager, look for your sound driver for example, sound max, once you found them right click and uninstall, afterwards restart your pc, that should fix your sound by reinstalling your drivers, if that doesnt work i recommend going to control panel sound settings and switching sound outputs..
Have you perhaps turned the volume down using the external volume knob on the side or front of the machine? Have you tried the control panel -> audio devices settings to increase speaker volume for WAV devices?[heck, all devices...] Most machines use the same external knob for headphones and the tinny speakers, so that may be a fruitless chase, but give it a try anyway. You could also have a loose connection. Has anyone recently done work on the PC? tom
Have you checked the speaker settings? Make sure that all settings are NOT muted. One selection that is muted maybe where the sound is generated from. Such as MIDI playback. Otherwise it has to be either a missing update/driver or damaged speakers.
i have this too. my speakers are altec lansing. but using headphones and plugging them in and thats the only way i can here. it would probably work for you. I think if you buy speakers the sound will work out o them.
