Good idea,

do you have the user manual? it should tell you how to set up wireless security. usually you start by going to

I have a siemens gigaset se572 wlan dsl box. my lap top is aksing for the security key or passphrase, does anyone know where to find it? Thanks

You should be able to log into the router by opening an internet window and typing 192.168.1.1

Username: admin
Password: admin

(Unless it's been changed.) The WEP Key will be in there under a section for Security.

I just recieved my Siemens Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl router and i set it up but the only light coming on is the power light,is the router faulty or damaged?

Are all the cables connected correctly?
Are the DSL settings in?

If it's only the power light, and no WLAN, LAN, DSL or Internet lights on, it sounds like it may be faulty. Is it brand new or second hand?

Hi...unable to connect to ps3 using siemans gigaset se587 wireless router

hi there,
first you need to make sure u can access your wireless router with no problems and the wireless is turned on for your ps-3...then u need to forward some ports...

Turn on PS3 and goto Settings, Network Settings.
Select Internet Connections. If it asks you want to be disconnected select Yes. Select EASY. Select wireless

Select SCAN this will take a few minutes. The PS3 should find your router and already have the SSID# so just type in your WEP key. Select save and then wait a couple of minutes then select test. It should hook up.

If it hooks up with NAT3 then you will have to enable UPnP on you router. type in http://192.168.1.1 on your computers web browser.

username: admin
password: admin

Click on the advanced tab and then on Universal plug n play and then make sure both check boxes are marked.

Then on the PS3 make sure the UPnP is enabled also in the network settings.

This should give you network and NAT2.

please try this link for port forwarding help:-

Siemens gigaset se587 4 port wireless router will not connect to my computer. Error code 106 keeps comming up. any solutions?

Go into 'control panel' then 'network connections' and right click on your 'local area connection'. Select 'internet protocol' at the bottom of the list and click on 'properties'. Ensure that 'Obtain an IP address automatically' is selected. Run through the installation disk again and my guess is it will work. Despite this being relatively simple no one at tiscali suggested this over the course of 2 weeks which I found astonishing.

Wireless internet

The other unit needs a wireless adapter to talk to the router wirelessly

make sure that the wireless function is turned on in the router software ,

you need to enter an IP address in the internet explorer to get into the router, (this should be in the manual or printed on the base of the unit).

you will need to enter a user name and password, (read the manual for these), sometimes, admin admin ,or admin password)

if you used a security key, make sure it is in the wireless software, of the wireless pc/laptop

good luck
Terry
