Dell Dimension 8400 IP Address Problem

Just relocated and changed internet service. Our Dell will note accept the new IP address from Comcast for internet service. I've run all the repair functions and still nothing. Besides restoring to the original factory settings, do I have any other options?

I think you give wrong IP address to your system. use correct IP which provided by the Internet connection company. otherwise reinstall your OS.

Cable right connected? Have you a router or a serve who give an IP address, or is your ISP who give the IP. Try to reboot the DHCP server, then start your computer and try again.

if its still not working you will need a local tech to see if the ip address is hardcoded into the NIC

Internet setup

few things you can try:
1. check to make sure you're getting an IP address.
2. try reloading the wireless card driver.
3. is you wireless static or dynamic? If dynamic, try configuring it with static setting.
4. If this don't work, try the wireless card on a different slot.
5. if don't work, try on a different PC to see if wireless card is working or not.
It's possible you have a bad wireless card.
good luck!!

Dell Dimension 5150 will not connect to the internet. HELP

Check if your system is able to get an IP address.

Bypass your router to check if its a router connection problem. Connect your computer directly to your modem.

Click on Start>RUN>Type cmd then press enter. On the black box, type ipconfig /all. Check if your system has an IP address. If it says 169.254.x.x or no IP address then there's a oroblem with your connection. Power cycle your modem, router and computer then check your IP address again.

Power cycle your devices: modem - router then computer.

Dell Dimension DE051:Wireless Internet Problem (Can't Load Sites)

contact Comcast and have them reset your IP address. also have them ping your modem after they reset IP.
Also, see Linksys website for LELA (easylink advisor) to add devices to network. Uses a good bit of memory so don't allow to run automatically at start up.

its sure an IP conflict is there and i hope you don't have a router - a modem is there so that when you connect to the internet, computers will get ip address from your service provider and not from your device which is not having that function because of no router. Kindly check in your network properties that you have specified any manual IP address delete it and keep the option obtain Ip address automatically. Before all this you have to go to the my computer right click and select properties then hardware ->devicemanager ->networkadapters - under that you uninstall all the adapters and restart your pc

Thanks

Ethernet Problem

If it is telling you there is a conflict the drivers are working it is the properties of the network card that are incorrect. Click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.(note the gap between ipconfig and the /). Go to the properties of your network card and on the TCP/IP line click properties and tick 'Obtain ip address automatically'
