please take it back, it will only give you more problems. irons are not made as well as they use to be.

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle (see below).
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

To eliminate mineral deposits and prevent corrosion on your steam iron, give it an occasional cleaning by filling the reservoir with undiluted white vinegar. Place the iron in an upright position, switch on the steam setting, and let the vinegar steam through it for 5-10 minutes. Then refill the chamber with clean water and repeat. Finally, give the water chamber a good rinsing with cold, clean water.

I have had the same issue with both of these irons. I bought them both thinking they would be a "better" iron with more steam and have not been happy within the first year of owning them. Thanks for the tips.

As soon as you lay your iron down to start ironing. It give off steam every little bit, it's not constant. If you want constant steam, fill a spray bottle with water and spray it lightly before ironing. Hope that helps.

Common problem if you have the temperature or steam setting set too low (not enough heat/steam to vaporize water droplets or the unit is not up to full temp. I would have a clean towel alongside the iron to give a burst of steam prior to your first press...

In a rush, you might be tempted to quickly iron a blouse or pants on the nearest available surface like a bed, carpet or even on a table with a towel draped over it. However, these surfaces may not provide the proper amount of level padding for successful steam ironing, and leaks are more likely to occur. Take the time to set up your ironing board for smooth steam ironing to reduce water leaks on a bumpy surface.

3:Allow your steam iron to heat fully in the upright position before ironing. Because your steam iron is designed to convert water into steam that will easily smooth out wrinkles on bulky fabrics, you can avoid leaks by ensuring your iron has time to get the water to the correct temperature. If you lay your steam iron in the horizontal position too quickly, water that is not hot enough to convert to steam will leak.
