Can not run Unicode version of ATL.DLL on Windows 95.

My operating system is Windows 98 SE and my email client is Outlook Express (OE) 6.0. While click on the OE icon to launch it, a pop up with title ATL mentioned "Can not run Unicode version of ATL.DLL on Windows 95. Please install the correct version. When click OK, a pop up with title Outlook Express mentioned "Outlook Express could not be started because MSOERES.DLL could not be found.Outlook Express may not be installed correctly.

Actually, I have already tried it. The situation has improved but when click the Outlook Express icon, the earlier pop-up still appear that is "Can not run Unicode version of ATL.DLL on Windows 95. Please install the correct version.", although the latter part has been solved. Well, my internet service provider only support Microsoft Outlook Express email client at the moment.

Hi Jemthy and all those out there who need it,

I have found the solution. I have tried it and it works!

    The solution is:
Find and allocate a atl.dll file in the hdd e.g. in the Adobe Acrobate 6.0 reader folder. Extract the file and replace the atl.dll file in the Windows system folder with the extracted file.

    The steps are as follows:

Click Start and select Find/Files or Folders. Type atl.dll in the Named box. Click Find Now and you will get the location of the atl.dll file in hdd. Select Start/Run, type SFC in the 'Open' box and press enter. When System File Checker opens, select 'Extract One File from installation disk'. Now enter atl.dll in the search box and press enter. When the 'Extract File' window opens, type the location of the atl.dll file found e.g. , C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader in the 'Restore From' box. The 'Save file in:' box should read C:\Windows\System. Now select 'OK' and follow the prompts.

So, learn it and keep up your good work!!

How can I export all my outlook xp email accounts and settings to outlook express 6? I want to use my laptop while I'm away from my desktop and I don't want to have to setup my mail accounts, passwords,...

For creation of backup I used this tool, try:
Outlook Express is one of the most popular mail clients at the moment. Its popularity is attributed to the fact that it is included in the distribution package of all Windows operating systems starting from version 95 OSR2. It is absent from Windows Vista and later in Windows 7 where another mail client is used - Microsoft Mail. So, users quite often encounter the problem of backing up information from Outlook Express. You can solve it with Outlook Express Backup Toolbox.

I accidentally permanently deleted my Outlook Express application, can it be restored? My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, 2009 version, Service Pack 1

Windows 7 does not support the use of Outlook Express - this was removed from Windows Vista and Windows 7 and replaced by Windows Mail (in Vista) and by Windows Live Mail (in 7).
If you have copies of the Outlook Express mail database files (inbox.dbx etc) you should be able to migrate these into Windows Live Mail using the Import Messages option in the File menu and selecting Microsoft Outlook Express 6 then browsing to the folder where your mail database files for Outlook Express are held.
If you have previously exported your Outlook Express account details (name.iaf) - you can import these into Windows Live Mail too through the Import option in the Accounts page.
Lastly, if you still have your Outlook Express Address book (name.wab) this can be imported in to your Windows Live Contacts by selecting File then Import Windows Address book (.wab).

I would like to down load oulook express to do my e mails on my note boo I am 70 years old and a little slow with some of these things, I am trying to link this with my desk top up stairs

Understanding and using Microsoft Outlook Express - Download and Install What is Outlook Express? - Free email client Outlook Express is an email client. In non-technical terms, it is a program that lets you send and receive emails from your computer. It is one of the most popular email clients in the world simply because it comes free with Internet Explorer (and the Windows operating system). Now Internet Explorer comes bundled with Windows which is the most popular operating system and it soon became the browser of choice on most desktops since it had some great features when compared to its nearest competition, Netscape Navigator (at that time). So as Internet Explorer became popular the usage of Outlook Express as the default email client increased to make it the leading email program on the Internet.
From where do I get Outlook Express? - It's a free download If you don't have Outlook Express, you can simply download the latest version of Internet Explorer. Outlook Express email client will be installed on your system once you install the browser.
Outlook Express Homepage - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/oe/.
What does Outlook Express actually do? Outlook Express allows you send and receive emails from your computer. The good thing about Outlook Express (or any decent email client from that matter), is that it lets you store the sent and received emails on your system. Thus, Outlook Express acts like a emailing center via which you send, receive, store and collate emails.
What is the difference between Outlook Express and Outlook? Outlook Express, as I mentioned, comes free with Internet Explorer or Windows operating system. It's a lean and mean email client. Microsoft Outlook on the other hand is an email client but comes at a price. To justify the cost of the software, Microsoft Outlook has tons of features and functionalities which are not present in Outlook Express.
How is Outlook Express different from an online email service? The difference between Outlook Express and an online email service such as GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo! etc. is that it lets you browse, read and compose emails from your computer even when you are not connected to the net. To download emails, you do need to connect to the Internet. Email messages are actually stored on your system, so, you can still read the emails you have received and sent in the past. An online email service works ONLY when you are connected to the net.
Another great feature of Outlook Express (and any other email client worth its salt), is that it lets you read and write emails at your leisure. Let us say you are traveling from Philadelphia to Chicago. You download all your emails via Outlook Express in Philadelphia and then board the flight to Chicago. Now when you open your laptop on the plane and start Outlook Express, you can not only read emails but also write replies and compose new emails. Outlook Express will store all these replies and new emails on your system. Now when you arrive at Chicago, connect to the Internet and open Outlook Express, the program will send the stored email messages.
Outlook Express also lets you segregate email messages into folders. For example, all new emails are stored in the Inbox folder, the emails which you have sent to people will be stored in the Sent Items folder and any emails that have yet to be sent are stored in the Outbox folder. In addition to these three folders, Outlook Express has two more folders. These are the Drafts and Deleted Items folders. The Drafts folder stores email messages that you have composed and saved while the Deleted Items folder contains all the deleted emails. [Note: in order to completely delete the emails from your system you need to empty the Deleted Items folder.]
You can also create folders inside the Inbox folder to further segregate email messages.
FYI, you can configure Outlook Express to segregate incoming email into different folders using rules and filters. For example, potential spam can be junked directly into the Deleted Items folder.
What kind of email accounts can I use in Outlook Express? Outlook Express can be used for any POP3 or IMAP email account. POP3, which stands for Post Office Protocol 3, is a set of rules with which one accesses and downloads emails. IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a set of rules with which emails are assessed.
If you have a web site hosted on a server, most likely the hosting package would come with a few POP3 email accounts. Thus, yourname@yourdomain.com would most likely be a POP3 email.
Can I receive emails from online email services in Outlook Express? Online email services such as Gmail provide free POP3 access to the email account; you should read configure Gmail account on Outlook Express if you want step-by-step instructions on how to do that. Hotmail used to have this feature but it has since discontinued it. Other popular online emails services might charge a small fee for POP3 access.

Outlook Express is a part of every windows operating system except Windows Vista (Uses Windows Mail) and Windows 7 (no Email client part of the operating system you can download Windows Live Mail)
If you are using XP or an older version of windows and outlook express is not installed, you can install it from add/remove programs, Windows Options.
If you have vista, then install Windows Mail from Programs and Features
If you have 7 the download Mail from windows live essentials :

I have windows mail and would like outlook express. Is there somewhere I can download it for free or do I have to buy a program?

If you have Windows Mail, you no doubt are running Windows Vista. Sorry, but Outlook Express is not supported in Vista. You are stuck with Windows Mail or a third-party mail client. FYI, I use Thunderbird and am quite satisfied. It works with Windows XP through Windows 7

Where is outlook express in ie7? so i can setup my mail settings.

Outlook express is not actually in internet explorer, it is it's own program. If you click on start and click on email at the top usually outlook express is the default that will open up.

Otherwise you can find it by clicking start, going to programs and locating it. Or you can click start, go to search, and type in outlook and it will find it for you =).
