Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have a new Nikon Coolpix L18 camera. How can I get photos onto Gallery.com? When I try, every single photo in the entire camera "transfers" onto the computer. (I don't want that, but that's what happens.) Once they "transfer," however, I CANNOT bring them up onto Gallery.com. I click "add pictures" and only PREVIOUS "albums" come up......not my new one!! HELP!

I have a Coolpix L18 Camera. I am trying to change the date on pictures already taken. Is this possible.

Not without special software to change the EXIF data of the file. You could Google Exif Date change" and pick from the software in the results. If it is a date that is part of the visible photo (even shows up on prints of the photo), you would have to use a photo editing program such as Photoshop.

Nikon L18 uploading problems

Many software programs will undelete a file deleted by accident but if you've used your computer and loaded other files onto the hard drive then it's possible you could have overwritten the spot the photos were in. An undelete command is built into windows but make sure you know exactly which folder or directory the photos were in prior to attempting an undelete. If you haven't used your camera since offloading them it's possible to run an undelete program on the memory card in the camera. If you've reused that memory card it's a good chance you've overwritten the old ones. Personally I've had little luck with the windows undelete but there are literally dozens of programs available to do the job. Do a search and find one. You could be lucky enough to land a freebie. or maybe one with a weeks trial. Simply enter "I deleted a photo by mistake" You'll be swamped with instructions on what to do. I can't do it myself as I don't know what OS you run etc.

Out of memory on Nikon Coolpix L18 camera

I noticed that, after dumping the full SD card onto my computer, I didn't seat it perfectly back in the camera (my finger bottomed out on the batteries before the memory card 'clicked' into place. With the camera unable to see the SD card, it defaulted to the internal memory, which is very small.

I got the SD card seated fully and the "Out of Memory" message went away.

Nikon transfer is not showing that my camera is connected

There is an alternate way of downloading images from the memory card from the camera.
Get a USB memory card reader, remove the memory card from the camera, insert it into the card reader, then plug the card reader into the USB port of your computer. You will now see card reader as an external memory device, open the folder and copy your photos onto your hard drive.

Download software suite

You may download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software here.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you may use Windows Photo Gallery or Nikon Capture or any other photo cataloging program.
