You will find that the non return valve as stuck inside your pump.If you follow the pipe back to the pump you will find a non return valve which is a ball and spring. Please remove this and replace if required.
this should then stop the water and soap returning back.

My new dishwasher leaves a white residue on my pots. pans and stainless flatware. I have not changed soap. Could the water not be hot enough?

Check the incoming water quality. If water is hard and having calcium content this could happen. Use water softeners in the inlet water to the machine.

If dish washer salt compartment available fill with the special salt meant for dish washers.

Check rinse aid compartment and fill rinse aid. Or use two in one soap tablet.

My new LG washer always has water in the soap dispenser, bleach dispenser, and fabric softener dispenser after the cycle has finished. Is this normal?

Mine too!! Very annoying, especially since the water then drains down onto to floor and has actually made the door hinges stiff! I just use powdered bleach now.

RE Zanussi IZ12 - Conditioner tray remains full of water and I think may be the source of a leak. I have removed and given a good clean by the problem remains. Any ideas?

You are half way there.
Get a piece of stiff wire, make a right angled bend in it about 1" liong, then poke it in to all the holes at the top of the soap drawer compartment.
This should clear any blockage in the inlet jets.
This should help solve the problem.

After wash is done there is still soap on the laundry help!

For low water volume - or "Trickling" effect...

1. Turn off the water supply to both hoses.
2. Remove hoses (one at a time so you don't get them confused)
3. On the washer side - look for a removeable screen inside wher you just removed the hose.
4. Using a small screwdriver - pop out the screen and reverse-flush it/clean it. It will likely be full of sediment and calcium deposits from your pipes.
5. Replace the inlet screens.
6. Re-fit the hose to the machine.
7. Turn on water supply valves.
8. re-try.

There's a foamy soap left in my washing machine after the laundry is done. We've established that I'm NOT putting in too much soap; it just isn't rinsing properly. The repair guy says it is draining fine,...

Soap powder remains in the soap compartment

Depending on which compartment the powder is remaining in, it could be low water pressure causing the problem.
If it is taking some down, but not all the powder, then try putting the powder towards the front of the compartment.
If all else fails then I suggest you get one of these dispenser balls that you put straight in the drum with the washing.
Plz rate this solution.
thanks.

Miele Novotronic W 844 Washing Machine

Pete,
When I had this problem I went along the entire water inlet route and verified flow. Water flow entering the soap dispenser tray should be very robust & audible; if not, you have a flow restriction or low pressure, flashing red light or not.

I'm stating the obvious because I actually missed some filter elements the first time I tried. Disconnect inlet hose at plastic fitting on chassis and verify your flow there. Then look inside the inlet barb and use a small pair of channel lock or lineman's pliers to grasp the tab on the inverted "basket" and pull it straight out. These filters can be packed full of sand and small gravel inside--they were in my case.

Good luck,
Adam

Water in soap holder after washing.

my washer is about 1 year old. It started leaving water in all the the compartments, soap, bleach and softner. I tried everything also. Nothing seemed to work. I finally took the hoses off the back of the machine, and the cold water hose screen was clogged up going into the machine. I cleaned all the screens and haven't had that problem again. I think there wasn't enough water pressure to flush out the containers. I dont think its gravity or suction, its water pressure. unless you get a blast of water into these compartments, there will always be water left in these containers.
