My Ryobi 15" ElectricTrimmer ZRRY41002 Not Operable

I recent purchased a reconditioned Ryobi 15" Trimmer, it worked fine last summer when it I got the same. However, I used it once this year and it started fine, once I released the trigger and press the trigger again it no long worked. I checked the power source from the extension cord and the power flow was good. What could possibly be the problem.

I have an older electric Ryobi Trimmerplus 130r which has encountered some of the same problems with starting. It works sometimes and then stops for no apparent reason. The extension chord and power source are not a problem. I fear that the ther may be electrical connection/wiring problems with the trimmer. I recieved a price of $30 to evaluate the problem whihc would be appiled to the repair of the trimmer but don't think that the investment is worth it.

I was thinking about purchasing this product from Amazon sometime soon (today being 4-26-2008). However after reading of the above problems I am not so sure anymore. However I did find a discussion about this problem at the Ryobi forums at " http://209.235.218.9/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=112&topic_id=597 ". (If the link does not work go to " http://209.235.218.9/dc/dcboard.php " and do a search for " 597 ". One of the displayed threads will be entitled "weedeater problem?" It will have the proper link to the discussion.) From the multiple postings in that thread it appears that the switch is the problem and it seems to be a consistent problem for many users. The switch itself can be replaced for less than $4, however the shipping seems to drive the cost up to anywhere from $12 to $15, unless one can find a local supplier. I hope that this helps.

I'm taking this Ryobi weed eater back to Home Depot, getting my money back and I will not be buying Ryobi again.

Not a bad decision, all in all. Maybe get a gas job. All of the posts concerning electric trimmers on here show ME how problematic they are, how cheap they are and how prone to failing they are! Maybe get a cheap gas job? With proper care and maintenance, these units can last several years.

Describe string replacement on ryobi trimer

Wind the string on in a clockwise direction.

If it is a duel line then: Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

CS30 Ryobi trimmer dies when I press throttle!

Yes. You just need to do a simple carburetor cleaning. Disassemble the carb. and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure the small screen is in carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush,(http://www.dentek.com/shop.php?target=products&product_id=7), to clean the small portals in the carb.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Trimmer head won't turn

If you didn't recently take it apart, then it sounds like you have broken the drive shaft in the neck of the trimmer. You can probably find this at an outdoor power and equipment type of store.

Ryobi string trimmer 32.1 what do mix gas and oil or just gas?

Ryobi trimmers I have had use a 32:1 oil mix. Just pick up a little bottle of Ryobi 2-cycle oil and read it to see that it will give a 32:1 mix in a gallon of gas. Pour it into a gallon of gas, and maybe a little fuel stabilizer too, shake it up and you should be good for the season.
