Windows Media Video, or WMV files, is a type of video that can be played on your computer and portable media players. In the past, computer users have been known to have difficulties opening these files due to a flaw in Windows Media Player or the WMV file. Since your question is not so clear, I have to assume myself that pictures and videos saved on your phone can't play on your computer after they are transferred to your computer. The message simply means that the codec installed on your system does not support the media type that you are playing. If you don't have any other player installed on your system you have to try with this one Vlc media Player (click here to download). Download it, and install, now open the downloaded files (video or pic or audio) using this player. Hopefully that should work. Alternatively you can use this player instead of Windows Media Player, but on the other hand, you can still play those files using Windows Media Player. The only thing you need is to install a codec, like Klite megacodec packs, Acemega codec packs, etc.. I think you should make sure first that the video you're downloading is already finish before you open it with your media player or maybe because your media player doesnt support the file type that you have downloaded, try downloading this media VLC Player, it could play almost all media type of file, just search it into google or type VLC Player Download it will output some websites to dwonload this player, then install it use it to play the video file that you have finish downloading. Use vlc it's free and it opens all type of association files.
At times with windows media player when you do file open On the TYPE OF FILES SET IT TO ALL FILES.

I understand, if you are able to record on the SD card, make your computer to recognize it and lastly if you can transfer it successfully with no errors, we can make it to work by choosing an appropriate media player. I personally would recommend VLC player. Latest version of this software can be found in:

Still if you are not able to open/run the media file. Let me know the type of file. I ll then according do a research and suggest a specific codec or a player that will support the file type.
File type can be found be right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties.

No usually media player will not play this type of file it will be a FLV type file format.
You can download some stand alone player to play the fiiles like this.

OR you can also download and install this package, this will allow Media PLayer to play the UTube files as well.
Both works well.

Try to download VLC Player. It might resolve the issue. You can download it from www.videolan.org.

The issue that your encountering is because your media player lacks those codecs that needs to be installed for you to be able to view those files. It is a common issue for almost all windows OS that doesnt have those codecs.

VLC Player can play almost all of the types of video files. Without installing those codecs.

If your drive doesn't read dvd disks anymore

it is either a dirty (http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-CD-DVD-Player-Laser-Lens-Cleaner/dp/B00008EM7U) or faulty lens or other problem in the circuit board. You can try upgradeing the firmware but Im quite sure it won't fix the problem. If you have warranty get the drive repaired/replaced or buy a new one.
