Agfa Snapscan e50 problem

I have just installed an Agfa Snapscan e50 on my system:

Intel Pentium III  450 Mhz
128 MB RAM
Windows ME

I have problems with the Scanwise software supplied.

Problem is that when the scan preview runs, the image at first comes in
correctly with colours as in the original.

As soon as the selection box kicks in, all colours within the box get
scrambled - blues become greens, browns change to bright reds etc. The
altered colours carry over into the final scanned image.

If I scan with the latest version of Vuescan I get near perfect scans, so
presumably the problem is somewhere in Scanwise. I can't see any
installation tweak that can be causing this behaviour.

Can anyone cast any light on this problem, please?

Any chance you selected slide instead of negative, or vise versa?

Thanks for the reply

No, I have tried that.

Well, since you provided Vuescan you would say that, wouldn't you?  :-)

Seriously, you did a darn sight better job than the cretin who wrote
Scanwise for the Agfa scanners.

It sounds like you have your display configured for 256 colors.
Set it up for more than 256 colors and the problem should go away.

Of course <smile>.
