Question about Projection Televisions

My six month old Dynex DX-LCD32 TV has developed a problem. A bright red horizontal stripe about 2 inches thick and the width of the screen is blocking my view of the picture. It's positioned about a half inch below the top edge. I've had no problems of this nature until I turned the set on this evening. Turning off the cable box does not get rid of the red stripe. As the quality of the TV appears good, I'm hoping this is an aberration that can be addressed by tweaking a setting or two. Yours truly, Barbara Davis

I'm sorry to say that those lines or interference are cause by a hardware failure and no adjustment can correct it.
If your TV is only 6 months old, still cover under manufacturers warranty. Call the manufacturers and ask them how to go about this repair and hopefully they will send you to an authorized service centre.

I have a sony 50 in rear projection. 9 years old


Sounds like the CRT tubes are going out which is fairly common on Sony. Inside the back of the TV there are 6 knobs - 2 for each color...one is for focus - dont touch - the other for brightness...turn down the brightness just a hair untill the lines go away.

it sounds to me like your tube has gone , go to your local tv repair shop and order a new tube its quite cheap to do so and they should be able to get it you quite fast.

Red Stripe


the cost of the repair is fair. The color wheel is about 175.00 some other areas in the tv with the kind of problem you are relating can cost the board just above 200.00 until 350.00 then only the color wheel can practically cover the cost you are about to do. Plus labor. make sure they give you the 3 months warranty.

Purple band at top of tv screen


Please make sure you have the Lamp seated properly in the set. If you purchased just the lamp without the basket make sure it is Flush against the front of the lamp basket. The light path is being obstructed or not aimed properly. Let me know, hope this helps.

Loose connections in the AV board. Re solder . Did you try in video 2 or 3 ?....But Am suggested re solder AV board and connectors. I hope this help you I am here any time thank you!!!

Sony Grand Wega KDF-E050A10


Authorized sony repair center told me the problem was the Q Box. Ever heard of this? Part runs about 300 bucks. TV is out of warrenty as it is 2 years old. Do you think it is worth it to fight sony and get them to replace the part or just fix the TV?

Part Number is A1167541A, service rep called it a Q Box in the diag, however the web says its the b block assmy.

read this if you think it's the same problem

Jkae it sounds like your hdmi tuner, I had the same problem on mine and thats what it was most likely your's went out like mine.

I have not fixed it yet. But I have identified the chip that is causing the problem. If you have a service manual scan it and post it please, so I can show you the chip.
