Re-initialize the HP All-in-One
Force the HP All-in-One to reinitialize by following the steps below:
Turn the unit off by pressing the ON button.
Disconnect the power cord.
Wait five seconds, then reconnect the power cord.
If necessary, turn the unit back on and try fax again.
If the unit fails to read the card again, reset the All-in-One. Repeat
Steps 1 – 4, but before plugging the unit back in, press and hold the #
and 6 keys on the HP All-in-One numeric keypad. Continue to hold these
keys down for a few seconds after plugging the unit back in to reset
it. Once the All-in-One reestablishes communication with the computer,
reset the language and country/region.

To change fax confirmation 1. Press Setup. 2. Press Print Report, and then Fax Confirmation. 3. Press the right arrow button to select one of the following, and then press OK.
Off - Does not print a fax confirmation report when you send and receive faxes successfully. This is the default setting.
On Fax Send - Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you send. On Fax Receive - Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you receive. Send & Receive - Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you send and receive.
The storm has likely damaged the phone line, or the ADSL microfilter (if you have one). Which is why it thinks a phone on the fax line is off the hook.
Check your line for breaks and your ADSL filters for a blown filter.

Lightening is definitely a factor. When you say it defaults to fax, do you mean that the fax machine picks up as soon as the phone rings? Most likely the fax software/machine has taken a hit. One way to check is to try it on another phone line, preferably at another location. So the cordless phones work all right? The static is probably something the phone company will have to fix. They have lightening arresters that will develop those conditions. Again, try a known good phone on the line. Preferably disconnect all the phones at the junction box where the phone line comes in and plug a known good phone into the jack. If you still get static, then the phone company should get involved. Otherwise you could have a problem with the house wiring.
i have hp laserjet 3030. i cannot send or receive fax messages. i have checked with other machines as well. a beep sound is heard and there is no answer. my fax and phone lines are working fine.please help me as early as posible.
