SOURCE: MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.

As stated by TVtechlady, it is possible for the buttons to be stuck. With the set unplugged, try pushing each of the buttons one at a time. You should be able to feel the button engage. If one of them does not, then that is the likely bad one. Also, if there is some dirt caught between the button and the hole, it can create enough friction to prevent the button from returning to the "OFF" position on its own. Spray some compresed air around the buttons and work them a few times by hand. Plug hte set back in and try again,

It is also possible that the 5V supply inside the set is having a problem and is comfusing the set. Try working the buttons first and update this with the results.

Thats caused by the small signal board located on the right side of the set ( Green board with the RCA plug inputs on it. Very common issue with that chassis. Hi, common issue with rca sets, you need to replace the tact switches on the front control board. If your not good at soldering / un-soldering you may be able to still purchase the whole control board, call a local tv shop with the complete model # and chassis # of your set and they can give you price & availability, video-tek

Rca sound and menu problems

Here at my shop we see this problem with these rca sets. The processor is seeing a command from the keyboard or the ir sensor. The most likely cause is a faulty keyboard cuircit board. And replacing is the best coarse of action. To make sure its the problem I remove the keyboard cuicit board and see if the problem goes away. I just use the remote to control the tv, u can also do this until the part arives To get the part you need to know the entire model number. It will be on the sticker in the back in small letters hd52w56yx1 or yx30 or something to that extint. i get most of my rca parts from union electroncs or just let me know and i can look up the part number for you
