Turn on your iPod Touch or iPhone by pressing the top button. Wait for your iPod Touch to boot and slide your finger across the lock slider to unlock the device. You will now at the iPod Touch home screen
Press the Settings icon on the iPod Touch Home screen to change your system settings. Click on Wi-Fi near the top of the Settings menu. A list of available wireless access points will load.
Find your Linksys wireless access point from the wireless device list under the Wi-Fi menu. If you have already setup an security key for your Linksys router, you will be asked to enter the key after selecting it from the list. Press OK and wait as it connects to the router. Enjoy the added benefit of having your iPod connected to the Internet.
Its a relatively simple process to enable internet on your Ipod. To do this you are going to need a little bit of information. You'll need: your routers Broadcast name (SSID), and your WEP or WPA/2 password.
If broadcasting your
ssid, choose from the 'choose a network' list.
Tap 'security' if you
are using security and select your security type.
Tap the 'other network'
button to get back to network setting.
Type in your security
password, which is your key in your wireless modem setting.
(*Important: if your using WEP security type, you must use key 1 from
your wireless modem setting. If your using WPA or WPA2 security types
then use the WPA Passphrase)
Click 'join' after you
have typed in your security password.
Your network name (ssid) should show in 'choose a network'
with a check mark next to it.
If there are any more problems feel free to get in touch.
You will need to go into the router's admin console and get the password. This information will be in the security tab within the admin console. The procedures vary for each type of router. Most routers have a reset button on the back that will set the router back to factory. However, I highly recommend that you access the router's admin console to insure the security of your internet connection. If you are unsure of how to access the admin console and no one is available to assist you in person, google the model number and look for a downloadable manual.
This problem appears most in ZyXEL routers and NETGEAR routers.
On those routers with the original firmware, only ONE computer has internet access at any given time.
So, when your laptop is on you wi-fi, the iPod cannot access the internet.
When the iPod has internet, the laptop cant.
Your router is blocking the iPod Touch from using the wireless. Go into your router settings (depends on your router) and find the security or firewall for the wireless page. You will need to enter in the MAC address of the iPod Touch (found in Settings>General>About - it is labeled as Wi-Fi address).
well first u need to try restoring it on the computer and if is still wont connect then u may need to go on ur comp and go to the internet router settings and selet "add device or join new device"
and that should work. :)
This is what you do.... the yellow button on the far left of you router (the one with the bars and it says cisco systems on it) you hold that in until it it turn white or neon and blinking... then your network should be open and you do not need to connect! let me know if if works out.
